Like:

I have to admit that while Walter may be a GERMAN his admission to New Mexico was indeed welcome and I do think he enjoyed his voyage across the south-west (limited as it was).

mac,
The real gathering, as always, will be in Chicago. Walter will be in Chicago before heading to New York. Smile

That was a conversation I would not have been part of. My niece sings with the Toronto Opera Company but I haven't been able to attend performances because I had to do laundry and there were the crossword puzzles piling up. But I like the idea of thomas and joe dressed up fancy, though I imagine this more in the manner of a Tony Curtis/Jack Lemmon Rockettes thing.

Sorry, guess you had to be there. Rolling Eyes

Those two as Rockettes? There's not enough beer in NYC.

What great fun this has been, reading up on the New Yorkers and election night. Like Lola, I haven't been posting regularly on a2k, but catching up with this thread has me in a party, traveling mood. I hope Dys and I can make it out next year. I bet you'll all agree that Lola and Bernie are the best hosts and the best partyers in all of a2k.

What makes it even more fun is that, having met most of the people there, I can really picture them in a New York setting.

McTag, you dance worked. Add some more steps for 2008!

Surely by June we have enough time to set up two good parties, chicago and NY. The "Walter-centric Bi-city Wing-ding".

Let's do party in June.........Beth's birthday, welcome guests both foreign and domestic. Maybe McTag, Fiona and Thomas can join us as well. Maybe Francis will show us the other side of his face. And the recalcitrant Steve. It will be nice weather in June, plenty of outdoor, sidewalk cafe dining....... And if Dys and Diane make it, maybe they'll talk Osso into coming along. Then Wande and Timber, JPB and Joefromchicago can be here too..... Soz, how about you? And Eva with other stray Oklahomans ...... surely you can make it. Maybe even ole Spendi will come over.........but we probably can't nudge him out of his watering hole. (now no unpleasant remarks about Spendi) And Clary. Then we'll need Farmerman and Beth will bring her surprise companion (I hope). Any Australians up for the trip? And the Austin contingent, Mac et al. And the Bostonians. And all the Floridians. And the Californians. I don't want to leave anyone out. All the NY regulars of course. And anyone else that can find their way here. If I left anyone deserving out, please file a complaint and I'll see if I can make up for it is some way. Oh yes, and georgeob, of course........how could I forget him? Maybe this time he'll actually show up. Other Republicans, other than HofT and georgeob may apply.

We'll have a big party at night and hang out in the park all day.

Ahhhhh......friends.

Prince? Are you coming to see us or not?

I'm getting excited about this.

Oh Lola, the mistress of gorgeous legs, my trip to NY has been postponed yet again this week (the americans don't want me to come there you see) and I cannot travel next week. I am afraid that I will have to bear the pain of waiting to see those marvels of nature for some more time....

I'm not quite sure why, but I've never been to NYC. Always wanted to, but it just hasn't happened. Maybe I've been waiting for an opportunity like this???

Keep me up on the plans, and I'll see what I can do. Sounds like a can't-miss!

I'm about right where Eva is. I have several standing invitations to NYC (including from a favorite cousin who's about to have a baby, want to see that baby!) and I get the vast majority of my news from the New Yorker and the New York Times, but for some reason I've never ever made it. Yet.

Nooooooo idea at this point whether the time frame is feasible, but I would certainly like to. I'd say I'm unlikely but possible.

I was last there in 2001. September. Arrived on the ninth... and stayed a few days. The difference in friendliness between the tenth and the twelfth was amazing.
