I came back and turned on the furnace.
Apparently I'd forgotten to tell Setanta where the on-switch for it was

I really didn't expect it to get that cold.
There's still quite a bit of trouble in the northern suburbs of Buffalo. 190,000 still without power, schools are closed for the week, general disruption.
The snow is mostly melted, which has caused the problem of flooding from rapid run-off.
The big evidence of the storm for my little car was the sand on top of the car!

After breakfast at Cafe Mozart yesterday, a couple of the foodies checked out a perfect tiny co-op apartment on the Upper West Side, visited St. John the Divine and its sculpture garden, and walked through Central Park - pausing for a rock cello concert in the park that was phenomenal, a couple of other good but not phenomenal musicians/groups, and an extraordinary performance of Faust (I'm hoping the pix of that tiny troupe come out well). I then went on the The Great Read in Bryant Park - the highlight of which was almost literally running into Julie Andrews as she was on her way to a reading on the Children's Stage. Interesting readings, coupla fun concerts and chocolate sampling by Ghiardelli. Thennnnn, I zoomed across and up to the Upper East Side to pop in on blatham at the shop. Took an interesting photo or two of the gateman at work. We wandered over to the site of the plane crash and gawked along with the small crowd, then back to the home of Lotham, and after Lola and two of her lovely daughters arrived, we went to an Italian restaurant for a meal.
I was surprisingly  tired when I got back to the Seafarer's at the end of that adventure.
