My ex and I broke up about five months ago after dating for two years, after we broke up I blocked him on Facebook as a way to deal with the break up as I was very upset and heartbroken. I decided to unblock him recently and as soon as he saw I unblocked him he added me back. (3 days after) He hasn’t messaged me and we haven’t spoken since we broke up but I was wondering why he would add me so quickly. Any opinions would help.

Unblock is just reinstating what was.
He didn't do anything unless he "accepted" your friend request, which you didn't even do.

If he's like my friend A and uses FB on his phone, it's no big deal to get/accept friend requests. A and C have both told me that they've woken up to new FB friends based on something in the phone.
Your ex is your ex.
Move on.
Don't worry about what he is or isn't doing. He's your ex.
