Who else, besides Powell, represents us in the world?

Who represents us on the world stage besides Colin Powell? I know Rumsfeld used to be in the public eye a lot, but apparently he's so abrasive he doesn't do us much good. Cheney doesn't appear to be so popular, either. And Powell looks like he's lost a bit of the respect and clout he had. And heaven knows Bush doesn't go out of his way. Of course, to be fair, he's not exactly world material.

So, from this great big wonderful country, full of good citizens, who else goes out there to represent us?

It's an interesting question - expecially since my sense of Bush and his bunch are that they draw further and further away from the world community daily.

As far as I remember, the name of the U.S. Ambassador in the United Nations is John D. Negroponte.

THE MONEY!
--- $ $ $ ---

. . . and many, many more $$$! Our tried and true representative! How many billions are we going to pay Turkey if they permit the U.S. to use their bases? Take the money away and where would the U.S. be in any part of the world?

Condi Rice may appear on various talk shows, but she does not represent us on a world stage. Negroponte would love to take center stage, but feeling against him is quite strong.

Charli - you're right. And that very dollar sign is proving to represent us, and not is such a good light.

APOLOGIA
mamajuana - It is with incredible sadness that I post a reply such as the foregoing. Heavyheartedness borders on despair, overshadowing cynicism, facetiousness, and smart repartee. If there is hidden humor in the present world situation, I hope we (I) find it soon! As for "a person" who speaks for the U.S., these cylinders seem to be coming up empty. Maybe somebody can think of one.

$$$ that the USA possesses and that contribute to her representation in the world were earned by labor and intellect of millions of Americans belonging to numerous generations of the USA citizens. So, the USA deserves to be represented by this money, she possesses these legally.

Openly and blatantly, Turkey says the US. has to pony up new money. If the Bush plan for a blanket increase of $50.00 a month and more on low income families with subsidized rents goes through, maybe that could be a source for aid to Turkey. It looks like the only willing coalition we have is the one waiting to see how much we offer.

I wonder how much Condi Rice spends on that hair-do?

Listen, Max, to be represented by Homer would definitely be an improvement.

I've never seen Joe Millionaire. Or any of those things.

My cat would be good. She talks better, too.

Rama, mamajuana passed away a few years ago. A great woman. She was not praising Powell here by any means. mamajuana opposed the war and build up to war and those like Powell who lied us into this war.

Rama, yes it is. Powell gets a lot of slack considering he played a major role in lying us into war.
