Trump does have one advantage over the old Republican order. Ordinary humdrum old-fashioned Republicans would only keep the White House for a short period and then lose to the Democrats, who would keep the White House for a short time and then lose back to the Republicans. The amount of time the Republicans spend in power would be balanced relatively evenly with the amount of time the Democrats spend in power.
On the other hand the new Trumpist Republican Party is going to dominate American policy for the first half of the 21st century. There will be very few Democratic presidents, and those few will all be moderates who are accepting of the main elements of Trumpism.
So Trump represents a much greater victory for the Second Amendment.
Have you ever read Asimov's Foundation Trilogy? If so, think of this as a Seldon Crisis. Trump is the new order that is sweeping away the old order.
If you haven't read the Foundation Trilogy, I strongly recommend it. It's science fiction at its very greatest.
