Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities
- Voltaire
"Why of course the people don't want war ... But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy.
All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."
--Hermann Goering, Nazi leader, at the Nuremberg Trials after World War II
Are you sure it wasn't Rush or Powell that said that?
One of the strongest, assinine pro Bush arguements I've heard recently is that the "people" were against WWI and WWII - as if that makes war in this case okay.
I believe the biggest threat to the world today is Rove - I'm sure the above is a Roveism!
I too have noticed that they want to equate everything with Hitler. Many people against this war fought in our other wars. Now they are being called America haters and appeasers. Wake up and smell the roses Miss Moses.
edgar, I'd like to add a couple more URLs to your thread, if that's all right:
Not In Our Name
United For Peace
and the word of the day is:
ANTI-ADMINISTRATIONISM
to demonstrate our unqualified support for our country and our soldiers, but
not those currently in charge of our government
Add away, PDiddie.
Those two sites have lots of good stuff.
"Judging the Bush regime purely by the data, only one conclusion is possible: It's an abject failure. And, in all ways that the president has sworn under his oath of office to perform, Bush himself is a disaster. F grades are nothing new for him, of course, but they are new for the American people.
Shouldn't Bush be held back a grade, perhaps downsized to Texas governor, or sent back to the Air National Guard to complete the commitment he made but never honored there?"

"Bush and Blair are now playing Osama bin Laden's game. He, more than anyone, seems to be looking forward to the war as a chance to replenish his ranks. He knows that every shot of Iraqi children being pulled lifeless from the rubble will send hundreds of recruits flocking to al-Qaida's banner."

"What difference does it make to the Dead.....................whether the MAD destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the
holy name of LIBERTY or DEMOCRACY:---MAHATHMA GANDHI
If Gandhi were alive today , he would have replaced.
Totalitarianism= Terrorism
