when will they ever learn; Republicans, after shooting themselves in the foot with Lott now aim for the other foot. The new Republican Governor Sonny Perdue of Georgia proposes a referendum to bring back the old state flag with its big confederate emblem. The state NAACP immediately threatened an economic boycott joining the boycott in South Carolina that has continued for the past three years. Supporters of the confederate emblem say it represents southern heritage, while blacks and others say it represents racism and slavery.
Sonny Perdue defeated the incumbent, in part, because he promised this referendum. As soon as he took office he wanted to forget about it, but the "heritage lovers" haven't let him get away with it.
And now the chickens can come home to roost...
