We're going to be looking for a replacement dishwasher in a couple days, and I was wondering if anybody on A2K know of a good quality, quiet, built in dishwasher? c.i.
I love my Maytag c.i. a little on the high side price wise but works better than any I have ever had.
JD, We have Maytag clothes washer and dryer, and they run, and run, and run..........
c.i.
We had a Waste King, which worked and lasted, and may still. We sold the house, so I don't know. Now we have a GE, which also works well. Mostly today, I find, I'm back to doing dishes the old way. I wash, and use the drainer on the side. But this is because I like to clear the sink, and with two of us it takes a long time to fill the dishwasher.
cicerone, if you can live with a little noise, Consumer Reports rates the Kenmore 1563[2] as "excellent" against some much pricier competition. It retails for $420. We have a Kenmore and have been very happy with it (and with 8 people in our house, we beat the heck of it). CR rates it very high on reliability as well.
Also from CR, "If you want cleaning prowess plus quiet operation, flexible loading, designer styling, and efficient use of water and energy, be prepared to pay $800 and up. In our latest tests, the dishwashers that offered the best of everything cost that much."
The Kenmores were clearly the bargains of the bunch. The other recommended brand was Bosch, with a good mid-market model costing $570 (model shu330[2]). Rated much quieter than the Kenmore model.
Tim, Sounds good. What is shocking is their delivery and installation fees. It adds another $186.75 in our zip code. Ouch!
The total cost including sales tax comes to $$641.40. c.i.
My brother and sister-in-law have got a split dishwasher. It's got 2 drawers and 2 separate controls. You can use them individually or both together. Everything costs a lot more over here though!
I got a Bosch - you have to give it to the Germans when it comes to making quality stuff !!
Costs an arm and a leg though
And I am very happy with my Kleenmaid - which I understand to be American.
