Damned straight . . . who better to judge ?
What's the percentage of Vets, who're against the war in Iraq?
Likewise: The age distribution

An article about vets and the parade on DC on 1/18/03.
International Gulf War Vets against further war in Iraq.

At the little local demonstration I went to two weeks ago, there were quite a few vets, some in wheelchairs. Very ardent and vocal in their support.
(I want to add that, heartened by a significant show of support from vets, I find everyone's participation in the peace movement valuable, from nuns to highschool kids to elderly ranchers to movie stars. The latter get a bad rap for speaking out against the war, as though they were somehow disqualified or must be seeking publicity. No more than the rest of us, I'd answer!)
Many of the "old timers" among the Vets are supporting President Bush's
attack on Iraq.
I'm not surprised there is support for the war among vets, I was surprised that there was an anti-war movement among them.
NH - why is the age thing so relevant to you?
littlek - Actually, I'm not surprised that there are vets on both sides of the issue, and I offered my links just to make sure that fact was not lost on anyone. Good topic!
What may I ask is the significance of a Vet being for or against the Iraqi adventure?
I'd suggest it's their experience of war that makes their views/opinions particularly valuable.
I don't care what a politician thinks about war unless he's fought in a war.
I'm sure there are reasons why other people have an interest in the opinion of war veterans.
Ditto Beth - I listen to people with experience before I'd listen to people without it.
just my opinion but re viet nam vets you are as likely to find one view and another, when i came home i joined vets against the war and so did many others, on the other hand there were a lot that supported the war, i dont have any demographics but i would opine that the younger men that were in-country were more likely to protest the war. i have nothing to back that up.
Lawsuit
Saying President Bush is "not a king," a group of U.S. soldiers, parents of soldiers and six U.S. House members filed a lawsuit in federal court Thursday seeking to stop the president from launching a war against Iraq without Congressional approval.
Heard it here too.
Up to now we read about Maine, Alexandria VA, and now Boston.

Good question! There isn't really, except sentimental. Still, when you're marching in a demonstration alongside a vet in a wheelchair, the reminder of war makes you straighten your back a little, march a little longer.

It is a lawsuit that will probably go nowhere. But it is good to see a little salt being sprinkled on Bush's tail.
