Take the bigoted and the ignorant from the Republiacn Party and you have about 20% left. That won't win any elections.

How you gonna' do that, in any party? Perhaps only allow those with no biases, prejudices or other strong opinions to vote, and by making the voter pass an intelligence test?

And, if you are a Dem, you would be well advised to be careful what you wish for given the large constituency of such in your party.

It is my impression the harpies foul their own nest, betraying themselves and disadvantaging their cause. The tendency of some Democrats and Democratic Party supporters to continue harping on divisive, elitist calumnies such as that as above quoted, along with the evident popularity among some of the more stridently vocal within that Party of the equally absurd plaints of partisan electoral manipulation, domination of The Right by fundamentalist religionaries, and Republican pecuniary malfeasance, leads me to conclude that if indeed such voices are indicative of the collective mindset of a sizeable, influential faction of The Democratic Party, the foreseeable prospects of The Republican Party are propitious at the very least.

I think Howard Dean and move-on are the answer to 2008; if we all survive Bush and the fanatics that are currently in power.

You are kidding, right?

A further move to the left ain't the solution to acceptance of the Dem message by the electorate, IMO.

Well, we all have our opinions. I think if the "dems" move to the right we will doing what the "rights" want.

One of the reasons why Kerry didn't tip the scale just a little on his side enough to win the election was because he wasn't "left" enough in my opinion.

We need a true democrat for the democratic party.

We also need to quit letting the far right of the republicans run our compaigns. It's bad enough they hi jacked the republicans.

That we do revel. And one of mine is that in moving toward the center the Dems will be doing what the majority of the electorate wants, not the GOP.

I think most true liberals would rather go down in flames than be watered down wanna be republicans, at least I know I would.

Somewhere along the way it has just became a dirty word to be called a lefty or liberal and for the life I don't know why or how it happened.

But you guys have been given free reign to do with it what you will at least for the next two years. More than likely the label democrat or liberal won't look so bad then.

Well, you are certainly getting your 'druthers in every election in this decade.

Somewhere along the way it has just became a dirty word to be called a lefty or liberal and for the life I don't know why or how it happened.

Because of what the left advocates, primarily a Nanny government and diminished personal responsibility for ones' own welfare.

But you guys have been given free reign to do with it what you will at least for the next two years. More than likely the label democrat or liberal won't look so bad then.

I heard that in 2000. Didn't happen. And it ain't going to happen now either, IMO. It is the Dems that must change to once again be political contenders because the electorate is continuing to move away from their ideology.

I think there is something to be said for clearly stating your principles in order to show the electorate that what is being called left is actually very much center.
