Ok, I need some ideas on where my husband and I should go on vacation. Here are the stats:
going in mid-February for 5 night stay
we are in our mid-twenties, married 1 1/2 years, no kids
like to go out at night and drink
I love to shop (shopping a necessity on my vacation)
MUST BE WARM (at least 70 degrees or above)
prefer to stay in US
enjoy beach for short period of time (not beach bums)
like historical crap
not incredibly atheletic (no strenuous activities)
prefer upscale/deluxe hotel (3 stars or more)
budget between $2000-$3000 for entire trip (including air fare, hotel and expenses for 2)
Any suggestions on places we can go?? Thanks for your help!
First, that's cool that you're going on vacation! Sounds like a great idea for you guys.
Second, this sounds very Floridian to me. My aunt lives in St. Augustine, way historical, cool place. Not sure of nightlife, certainly close to nightlife.
This is prolly TOO pricey, looks cool tho:

Funny, soz, I was thinking St. Augustine too!
Old as it gets in the States.
Beach.
Shopping, if I remember correctly, there is a Premium Outlet pretty close.
Lotsa nice hotels and B&B's
Good food, try the Oasis out on the Island, great beach food.
Or try St. Pete/ Tampa. Old stuff in Ybor City, shopping as well, food and drink there too, all YC.
ask phoenix for details about that one though.
Well, actually it depends on whether or not we could get a good flight price. It looks fabulous though!!! You have some good ideas.
Savannah is also really nice, not sure about the weather in february though.
Old stuff, good food, lots to see and do, Tybee Island is also very nice for a day-trip.
BTW, where are you flying from?
Santa Fe beats St. Augustine for old, but it's not even close to the temperature range. No sir, not in February, it isn't.
how about to the bedroom?

Well......hmmm........... **pondering about what kinds of fun things vacation money would buy for the bedroom....**
Voted "Most Romantic Hideaway" in 2003 and "Best Weekend Escape" in 2004 (dunno WHO voted 'em that, but...)

oooo, that so looks like something I'd love....
Oh it does say elsewhere:
No idea what Arrington's Bed & Breakfast Journal Book of Lists is. :-?
Rooms seem to be about $150.
(I so need a vacation myself. Haven't had a vacation-vacation in... um... well. We're probably going to Florida sometime soon, I have family I want to see there and sozlet really wants to see the ocean.)
If you have any compunction about spending your tourist dollars in a red state, as opposed to a blue one, I'd suggest San Diego.

(Of course, Craven's out there somewhere... )
You could go to Nassau in the Bahamas for that money, Kristie.
note: hubby is against cruises.
