I've been following him off and on for some years, am defininely sympathetic to him. Anyone differ?
An article I read today about him is quite a good read - well, to me.
Funny, I tried to set that up so Ai Weiwei's name would show up first, as sometimes it seems the least interesting aspect at the start of a thread has often shown up first.
I know, I know, algorithms; I give up on trying to trick them.
I guess I'm closer to indifferent towards him. I'm not particularly fond of his work but at least I don't hate him like I do "Look at me! Look at me! Why aren't you looking at me" Marina Abramovic.

@ossobucotemp,
I'm familiar with his work, some is intriguing, some just leaves me confused.
I'm not all gaga re his art. I read about it but by now I fairly forget, not then engaged.
I should look harder.
I'm interested in your takes, Sturgis.
I am, though, interested re his life.

His art is secondary to his long term imprisonment, denial of medical treatment and eventual death for criticising the regime. He is not as well known in China as he is outside because of censorship.
