Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie have got engaged, it has been confirmed.
After a huge amount of speculation, an official announcement has been published in the Times newspaper.
The couple met on the fantasy show in 2012, where they played on-screen lovers Jon Snow and Ygritte.
Leslie left the cast two years later while Harington has become one of the show's biggest stars - appearing in all seven series of the popular TV drama.
They only made their public debut as a couple at last year's Olivier Awards.
Harington told L'Uomo Vogue last year it was "easy" to fall in love with Leslie.
He said his best ever memory of the show were the three weeks in Iceland when they filmed the second season in 2012.
"Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love," he said.
"If you're already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love."
Leslie is currently starring in US television series The Good Fight.
Harington will next be seen in the BBC's drama Gunpowder, about the gunpowder plot, before he starts filming the next and final series of Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones star Iain Glen has described how security measures put in place to prevent story details leaking to the public caused problems for some actors.

"They're absolutely paranoid now about anyone finding out anything about the series and spoiling it," he said.

"We weren't allowed a written word on a page."

The final season of Game of Thrones will be shown on Sky Atlantic in April 2019.

Glen said: "Everything was accessed through iPads with different security you had to get through to access it. Which caused a problem for the actors, I have to say."
The Scottish actor, who has played Ser Jorah Mormont in HBO's global phenomenon since it began in 2011, also said that the show's final season is "absolutely phenomenal".

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live's Nihal Arthanayake, Glen described the table read for Game of Thrones' final season, which saw more than 100 cast and crew gather together to read through the scripts for all six episodes.

"This season was the first ever that we sat and read the entire arc of the story from beginning to end right through over the course of a day," he said.

"Kit [Harington - who plays Jon Snow], if he wasn't lying, had not read it, so he was reading it on that day for the first time."

Glen said there were moments of shock from the actors, as they realised how the show's intricate plot was set to be resolved, but that the consensus was that the actors were thrilled by what had been written.

"Honestly, these six episodes are absolutely phenomenal. The writers really, really came up trumps. The way they pulled it all together was a real writing task.

"There were a lot of tears that day... and it's been a season of that because it's been a season of farewells and finishes."

A tree made famous by the TV fantasy drama Game of Thrones has fallen in strong winds.

Gale force winds of up to 60 mph hit Northern Ireland overnight on Saturday.

The Dark Hedges are a tunnel of beech trees on the Bregagh Road near Armoy that have become an an international tourist attraction since featuring in the hit series.

Some of the trees were previously damaged during the turbulent weather of Storm Hector in June 2018.

The trees were originally planted by the Stuart family along the entrance to their Gracehill House mansion.

Over the decades, the branches grew over the road and became entangled and intertwined, creating a covered passageway with something of an ethereal feel.

Originally, there were about 150 trees, but time has taken its toll and now only about 90 remain.

Paddy Cregg, from the Woodland Trust, told BBC News NI that the trees date back to 1775 and by beech tree standards, they were "old aged pensioners".

He added: "They are coming to the end of their life, normally beech trees survive around 250 years, they are probably now 240 years old.

"It's sad to see that one by one they are actually falling".
