Yes, I am home! Lots of traffic and rain and I was stuck in a 20 km traffic jam for more than an hour.

Walter, your chocolate saved me there! Thanks!!!!

I had a great weekend and it was such a pleasure to meet old and new friends. Mr. and Mrs. Walter are the best hosts you can think of. Thank you so much! :-)

I think I have to go to bed now... ;-)

Walter
Dys and Diane are expected back in Albuquerque on Wednesday. By then, Osso Buco should have replaced all of the stuff that dog Sally chewed up while they were gone. We think she misses them. Fred the parrot doesn't give a damn as long as he has food and water.

The eagle has landed.
The lady eagle seems only a little deranged.
The nest seems comfortable, and welcoming. The kettle is ON.

Well, that's what you think Laughing

(Actually, we (including the both named above) are still having a fine time here. I'll drive them across Germany to Francfort tomorrow, from where they will fly on Wednesday back to New Mexico. )

urs, I'm glad you're home safely and McTag as well Wink

For Diane and Dys, I wish you a pleasant trip home,
and enjoy your stay in Germany. I'm sure Walter
is a great tour guide.

Hopefully, one of these we all can coordinate a visit
in Gemany at the same time. I would like that!

Well, we are keeping our fingers crossed that he arrived safely in Berlin yesterday - at least, we helped him entering in correct train IN Lippstadt and gave hime the number of the platform, from where his train was going to Berlin in Hamm (he had to change trains there).

Oh! I didn't know that he was going to Berlin...
I'm sure he made it, cicerone has traveled the world,
he won't get lost that easily.

If not, the train probably stops in Sibiria anyway Laughing

Whaa...... where the heck is Amsterdam? Actually, dys and Diane missed an adventure. I took the wrong train out of Amsterdam Midi, and almost ended up in Koln. Fortunately, I ran into a very nice conductor-manager that wrote something on my train ticket, and the detour didn't cost me a dime. I arrived into Amsterdam (at my hotel) at 11PM. First class service all the way. LOL More later.

Did the TV tower and the history museum yesterday. Also visited Sony Center - a very interesting place to visit. They have a film museum there that I may visit later on. Was planning to visit the Egyptian Museum today. Probably have enough time to visit a couple more museums today, so I'll log off for now.

Here I am in France having had 11 hours of driving yesterday - so many slow-limit places on the German and Belgian motorways and then wrong numbering of motorway exits on my French map so I did needless small-road detours. However when I arrived with my friends at 8 pm they broke open the champagne and managed to find 2 more bottles of wine to accompany the delicious dinner - how appreciated after the drive! Tomorrow we go to Chaumont for the garden festival; http://www.chaumont-jardin.com/site/page/festival/2005/accueil.php

Way to go c.i. World-class traveler that you are, you know who to talk to and how to change a potential problem into a bonus.

Clary,
Glad that you made it back OK

c.i.: you certainly made a typo and meant "Brusselles-Midi", where you took the wrong train (although 'I had no map' to quote dys, we found our way out of Amsterdam). Have a good time and a safe journey back!

Clary, sorry to hear the story about your long journey (the numbers of the French exits changed a couple of years ago  ). Hoppe, you'll enjoy that exhibition!!!

Diane and dys saw a bit more of Germany before they arrived this afternoon at their hotel in Frankfurt. (Very safe: next to the US-American Air Force  )

[So I've been the same time on the road today as Clary yesterday Laughing ]
