Thanks for the update, Eva.
(i'll send ya a note for the #, so I can give the fella a call)
I've been wondering where Husker was... when did this new bout happen?
<confused>
Thanks to Husker Jr. for sending messages.
I talked with Husker again a couple of hours ago. Last night his fever spiked at 103.5, but it was down to 100.5 to 101 when we spoke and he was feeling much better. He said the doctor told him if it hits 103 again, they're doing blood cultures immediately. We shall see how tonight goes. Fevers often spike in the middle of the night, it seems. Also, his blood pressure is 80/60...way too low. And the doctor is watching his leg closely. It's still really dark red. However, on a good note, he was allowed to make a foray to the lounge today with his IV pole in tow. That really cheered him up. Said he's going to try to talk five or six other people into going with him tomorrow. (Sounds just like him, doesn't it?!)
He really appreciates all the folks here asking and worrying about him. And he's looking forward to hearing from you if you can call. (PM me if you need the number.)
blood culture to see if it's an infection? Or to see if the infection is on the move? Seems obvious that there's an infection, so maybe the later?
Thanks, Eva. I'll try to give a report tomorrow.
Why won't this infection go away??
oh damn, that is one stubborn infection. good thing husker is way stubborner. speedy recovery, husker!

It's a reoccurance of cellulitis, caused by the staph infection he had earlier this year. If the current antibiotics aren't working well enough to keep the fever/infection under control, they'd do a blood culture STAT to identify the exact bacteria causing the infection and start specific antibiotic therapy just for that. I think that's what he meant.
Eva, pls pass on my best wishes to Husker when you next speak to him..
I will be happy to do that, G!
<need to work on my time zone thing, so I don't try to call when it's 3 a.m. his time - caught myself just in time this morning>
i don't know husker other than from his posts here on a2k, but i will be thinking about him and praying for a speedy recovery!
I'm so sorry for you, Husker. You are in my thoughts. Get well soon and stay well!
they let me come home- SWEET! now off for a nap.
That's so good to hear, Husker! Take good care!

Glad to hear that you're home, Husker. It always feels so good to get back to your own bed.
YEAH!!! I hope it's for the long haul this time.
keep the fever under control so you can otherwise heal fully.
HOORAY! They let you come home after all!!!
That is great news! That must mean the fever stayed down last night. Glad your doctor changed his mind and let you go. It's always easier to rest at home.
Happy Napping, Big Guy!
Oooh. Good thing I checked in here before I tried to call.
Great to have you back home, Husker. Please take care!!!
