All of the switches for the light fixtures in my apartment are dead, but all of the outlets are working fine EXCEPT for the GFCI outlet in the bathroom where a hair iron melted it's own cord while plugged in. Any ideas as to what could be the problem & how it could be resolved? Thanks!

@Nwb42,
The GFCI could control more than itself. Other wise you need new switches. They are under 5.00 and easy to replace.

@Nwb42,
If it's a single switch then yes the switch could be bad but I highly doubt it. If it's all switches or even just a few are dead and if they stopped working about the same time the gfi and cord deal happened then take out the gfi and see if all connections are good clean and tight if they are go check the breaker panel or fuses whatever you have and make sure that nothing is tripped or blown. If that's all good there could be a bad connection either on the hot or neural side and it will take a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Hope this helps
