Art Beat, a local art column I love to read

Ok, I know the person who writes the column, Linda Mitchell, but that isn't enough reason to make me look forward to her columns, and in other circumstances could be a reason for dread.. if I didn't like them.

There is another a2k art topic I started on one of her columns, En Plein Air - and I promised then to give links to others in the series, and shortly thereafter deleted the list by mistake.

What I like about Linda's writing is her conversational tone, her wide view of what makes up art, and makes art of value, her engagement with place, this place. She is not a critic as such; I see her as an explorer each time she writes a piece. I think of her as open to experience.

I mentioned before and will again that I wish more people were talking about art the way she does in more and more newspapers read by the general populace.

Not included in my links are any letters to the editor from any of the columns... they're not online.

As a disclaimer, I admit myself and my gallery partner are mentioned somewhere in these articles, which I get a kick out of but is not the point of this post.

Listing the columns in reverse order, as many as I could find, from today backward -

I used to like art when it was limited to liberal elitist collectors but since it became a pasttime of republican investers, I only purchase nudes on velvet.

My guess is a batch of these won't interest anyone in particular. But.. they are particular to this place and LM investigates with an open mind. I like the writing, me the naysayer, and the place, and I open up to the art.
