Since my brother have learnt to draw oil paintings, his works is getting more and more, so I decided to pick out some beautiful ones to decorate the walls. Which kind of art would you use to decorate?

@ginagreen,
even though we live in a colonial farmhouse, Id choose bold abstract art in entire rooms and some wildlife art in others.
(Rothko,Kline, Stella for the abstract and Bateman, Cohelach, Frazetta for others)

@ginagreen,
I have a few pieces by Leo Sweetpea Neilson from this period

I've also got a Doris Cyrette from just after this series

I generally prefer art with clean lines.

The Sun by Edvard Munch

Very optimistic and cheerful, unlike anything else he did.

I have 50 or so paintings in my small half a duplex house, plus more stored etchings or drawings. Most of those, though not quite all, are by me. Some of them are quite large. I did sell pretty well back in my gallery days, but I've slowed down to not contacting a gallery here in Abq, though I have one or two in mind. I've painted since the early seventies, and the styles and subjects vary.

I need to get my act together and clearly add more data on the back of the canvases, and improve the order of my paperwork. Bad girl keeps putting it off until "tomorrow". I'm pretty attached to the paintings that are left, but know it is stupid, given my age... I should be acting.

I have all kinds of stuff on my walls. My living room is mostly watercolor landscapes, some of them are thrift store finds but a few are really lovely ones I got from my husband's grandmother after she died. Some are very modern and some are more classic.

I also have a couple of wonderful J.J. Mora lithographs from his study of Native Americans. For example, I have this one:

We got these from my husband's father, who collected Native American art and jewelry. I have 6 more prints on the way -- nobody else in the family really cared for these prints but I think they're terrific.

I'm waiting for the rest of the set to get here before I decide exactly where I'll place them. My house has lots of windows and wide doors and very little wall space so hanging them all is going to be a trick!

One of my favorite things is a poster from the 1972 Olympics in Munich that I found hanging in a discount grocery store/thrift shop in the late 70s/early 80s.

I had it reframed and it has followed me across the country, hanging on my wall for the last 40 years.

@ehBeth,
I agree with you that these clean lines make the picture comfortable, and the simple colors make the whole picture richer. I love this kind of picture so much !!! Its also quite suitable to decorate the house.

@boomerang,
The Native Americans looks so cute with the mask, but we cant see the face then we dont know what his thought is. A nice work!

@ginagreen,
Hello? I've painted for many decades and have fared relatively well.

@ossobucotemp,
Sorry, I may have misunderstood what you said earlier. I am not a painter, I just like all things related to art. Sorry again!

my stuff up is usually just to stare at after ive thrown my self against the wall like a complete jackson

under the circumstances the doctor says water colour is a full brick imperative

injury mitigation is in the foreground given no padding on the walls

from my perspective ive none and rather picasso on art

and always remember if palette persists

try to go to yer gio tto painter

the answer is fresco

@farmerman,
For Modern? A midsize Rothko would make me very happy.

Love Pieter Bruegel the Elder but his work wouldn't fit my current apartment.

@tsarstepan,
I would also be very happy to display a Kiki Smith print or relief sculpture.

@ginagreen,
I would like to decorate my house with works painted by Claude Monet
For example, http://d2jv9003bew7ag.cloudfront.net/uploads/Claude-Monet-Grainstacks-end-of-day-Autumn-1890.jpg or http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/images/h5/h5_2001.202.5.jpg
