Hi George, Raggedyaggie and Seed. (I hope I didn't miss anyone.) And thank you Lightwizard, seems that featuring the double feature helped some people to drop in.

You're on a roll, joe.f.c.!

That bad kids couplet made me think of one of my all time favorite bad kids - "The Bad Seed"'s Rhoda Penmark.

I think it would be interesting to pair "Orca" and 'Free Willy". The first depicts killer whales as Jaws-style killing monsters; the second depicts them as misunderstood lovable creatures of nature.

Another great pairing would be "Airplane" immediately followed by "Zero Hour", the serious 1950's drama that Airplane was based on. Zero Hour has virtually the same plot, including the immortal line "I picked the wrong day to give up smoking".

Those are good combos, Equus!

You got me thinking.... how about "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" and "Day of the Dolphin" for talking fish movies?

Or, "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" with "The Shakiest Gun in the West" and "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" for a Don Knotts marathon?

How about Bambi and The Deerhunter.

Dumbo and The Greatest Show on Earth.

Star Wars and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Both sci-fi, but with very different approaches.

Many years ago, I went to see A Man and A Woman and Two for the Road in the same day. A great double feature.

Hi loislane! Nice list.

"Rounders" is another good card game movie to add to that last feature.

Love that one, Lois. Was there a dripping water pistol in "Born Yesterday?"

Yes indeedy--love love love Judy Holliday. She was such a wonderful personality on screen.

Crossing the lines: Bells are Ringing; Bye Bye Birdie (the Telephone Song) and what the hey, Pillow Talk!

You meant that to be a funny horror film didn't you: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Night of the Lepus (worst film ever--giant bunnies! first attack on a lettuce truck! But then they develop a taste for blood!!!)

Now I KNOW you meant that to be a funny horror film with Vincent Price: Dr. Phibes and Theater of Blood

Got your ups and downs (I): Attack of the 50' Woman and The Incredible Shrinking Woman

Best Carpathian mountains carriage chases involving vampires: Horror of Dracula (ya just gotta love early Hammer films--or hate them!) and Van Helsing

Festive number series:
One-Eyed Jacks;
Two for the Road
Trois Couleurs: Rouge
4 for Texas
Five Easy Pieces
Sixth Sense
Seventh Seal
Eight Men Out
8 1/2
Nine to Five
Ten

whew!

The best Carpathian mountain race was in Coppola's "Dracula" -- I loved the soundtrack enough to buy the CD and can play it as car music when I'm racing to an appointment.

Good point, Lightwizard. I also thought that the one in The Fearless Vampire Killers by Polanski was great fun.

It was interesting in Van Helsing (well, about the only thing interesting) that they quoted Fearless Vampire Killers by having a ball where everyone is actually a vampire so only two people show up in the giant mirror at the end of the hall!

Copolla managed the most potent atmosphere -- the race with the sun peaking up over the mounting had be gasping in the theater. It's was grand opera without the singing. My favorite special effect was when Dracula emerged out of the shadows and morphed into hundred of rats.

Well, back to trying to think of some combos myself but here's one:

"The Ghost in the Darkness" and "Second Hand Lions"

A switcheroo from Loislane's Ups and Downs to a downer and an upper:

The Man Without a Face and Two-Faced Woman

The Bad Seed and The Good Mother
