Creaking when turning

Ok, I am not sure if this is a serious problem or just a nusiance...I have a new car, 15 1/2 months old. About a month ago, when I would make a turn, there would be this creaking sound, kind of like creaking plastic. It happened once in a while. Now, it is happening every time I turn, either right OR left, at any speed. Should I be concerned? I have not been in an accident with the car. It has approx. 17,000 miles on it. I will be taking it in anyway soon for a once over but should i make it sooner than later because of this creaking? Anyone know what it could be? Thanks!

Its a slow site, but first... ya gotta post more info; what make, model, and year?

Without that info, my answer could be anything from motor/tranny mounts to tie rod ends, to rear axle limited slip. What's the car? Year? Model? limited slip or not? Auto or manual tranny? does the noise continue throughout the turn, or just while turning?

ok....well...

2003 Hyundai Sonata
Auto trans
noise stops when i straighten out. Just when I turn the wheel. it seems to happen more when I go over bumps while in turn.
Also the other day, when I stopped, it made the sound while braking. I did hit the brake a little hard and this is the first time it has done that (and hasn't since).

Any info you can give would be great!!!! THANKS for responding! Very Happy

My first guess is front suspension/chassis parts. Have a shop or yourself look at the tie rod ends, strut joints, steering rack, etc. They shouldn't fail that quickly, but sometimes you get a bad part every once in a while. It should still be under warrranty, so try that route first. It couldn't hurt to have the brakes checked while its in the service bay. Brakes aren't covered by warranty, but if they're making noise too, can't hurt to check.

Good luck and let us know what happens
