I have been getting a whole lot of "the election was rigged" sorts of emails from people I worked with on the Kerry campaign and friends. I have been taking my typical "yes but the CNN exit polls from early in the evening are nothing to go by" sort of approach, and nothing has really convinced me. I'm still not convinced.

This one has me wincing, though, which I find to be a strange reaction -- what if Kerry really did win? That would be a good, good thing!

I can't tell, yet, if my reluctance is the skeptic in me or if I don't want to have to deal with the turbulence involved. (It could probably be both.) Kerry lost, it's over, let's move on is in some ways easier than oh no, what if there really was election fraud...

I' m on the same path, soz. I've heard lots of stories of elections fraud, but I don't want to harp on them. I want to move on while other, credible people rehash the vote and let us know later. I think the winging on our side (no matter how well placed it might have been) last election hurt us.

Chalk me up for those thoughts as well, but like 4 years ago, there's not a whole hell of a lot that can be done.

The rigged part is that it is only a two pony race. Rich ponys at that.

Yeah, I agree. E.G. had the answer on this one, I think -- if it happened, it'll come out. Every reporter, every newspaper would kill to be the one to break this story, with proof.

(I think nimh is due congratulations of some kind... ;-))

There was election fraud.

There always has been some degree of it on both sides since the beginning of time.

(I couldn't pull up soz' article.)

The thing that we have to hope is that whatever fraud was gotten away with--it wasn't on a large enough scale to have changed the result.

Bush won by-- what-- about 3 million votes? Don't concern yourself that fraud made a difference. The Dems surely accomplished some fraudulent votes. I'm thinking they cancel themselves out.

But, you can be sure the sour Democrats at CNN (I thought Judy Woodruff, Larry King and a few others were going to start cursing during the election coverage) would scream joyfully from the rafters if legitimate issues over fraud were discovered.

Oh, my. Just read a very disturbing news item:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041107/ap_on_re_us/ground_zero_suicide&cid=519&ncid=716

Well, fraud or not, we're stuck with what we got, so we may as well do what we can to keep the country going.

The article is in pdf format. You need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to access it. Here's a link to the free download:
