In addition to the John Ashcroft question,

Who goes and who stays? When Powell and Armitage leave, as most believe they will, will this signal their exit from the political scene? And who will run State? Snow also looks set to make a gradual exit, making Treasury a bit of a revolving door. The final question on all of our minds is the Dept. of Defense. Rummy's trying to hold on, but he's taking hits left and right. The Washington Post, and much of the other major media outlets, has their eyes on Condi for Secretary of Defense (although Wolfie is also putting his strong bid in for the task). Who then would replace Dr. Rice? Not quite as much fun as speculating about the elections, but what is?
On a final note, the S. Ct. is almost surely going to be tossed up as several Justices retire (or pass away). Roe v. Wade, out the door? That could have a detrimental effect on the Republican Party, as it might uncouple the abortion vote from Republicans (at least until we have more Justices up for grabs). Then again, who knows what effect overruling Roe v. Wade would have. It's all speculation.
