..we need to encourage Western Muslims to re-invent the Koran so that it reflects today's values and moral sensibilities in the context of modern-day civilisation.

The last thing that should be done is to forcibly deny a people their religion. In that direction lies holocaust and generations of vengeful hatred in the surviving progeny.

Islam needs the renaissance it never had. It needs to be re-defined in terms which are acceptable to civilised and decent people everywhere, of whatever religion and cultural background.
