Not when you hear "The Chaser" got through 2 police checkpoints and within 10 meters from his hotel entrance.

No Sydney-sider is allowed in Sydney but there were 92 motorcades today it appears.

Traffic must be just like the normal peak hour rush.

What a circus! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I think the US should pay for security for Bush and his 700 person enterage.

Did we make him a target?.

Don't forget Apec is little Johnny's ruse in an election year for which you and I pay the bill, but he will pay at election time, you mark my words.

The worst ever US President met the worst ever Australian Prime Minister in the worst self-congratulatory and mutual admiration charade that I have ever seen the other day. When things are so low, it is only possible to improve, let's hope so.

G'day, Dutchy.
Good to see you posting your two bob's worth here! Very Happy

By golly, those Chaser chaps have done it again!. <snort!> Tsk tsk, you'd think they would have learned their lesson, wouldn't you? The police spokesman on the ABC news said there was the potential for them to have been shot!
But that was very funny, watching"Osama" being frisked by the Sydney police on the evening news ... by far the most exciting APEC event so far!..... & I love the "insecurity" card! Laughing

And wasn't Kevin07 impressive, nattering away in Mandarine to the Chinese delegates? (Smarmy little bugger. Too clever by half! Laughing)

And I see that we've agreed to sell Oz uranium to Russia! .... Mr Putin has solemnly declared that our uranium will not be used for nasty purposes, unlike the Russian variety. So it's OK then, I guess? Rolling Eyes

It's rather like a big shopping spree, isn't it? These important folk madly buying each others stuff. I see we're likely to buy more US war machinery. There goes the budget surplus!

Anyway, a bit of light relief.:

Three staff and a film crew from ABC TV's program The Chaser's War on Everything have been questioned by police after being involved in second stunt in central Sydney this afternoon.

The three were released by police after being briefly questioned for carrying around black cardboard boxes dressed up as limousines in Sydney. ...<cont>

Surprised Amazing!
From Janet Albrechtsen of the AUSTRALIAN! Surprised
Never thought I'd see the day ....
The same sentiment, from unlikely sources, is staring to leak out all over the place.

Well folks, the writing must be well & truly on the wall, then?
Next, they bring in the shredders?

The AUSTRALIAN

THIS is one of the hardest columns I will write. John Howard has been the finest prime minister Australia has had. He has overseen extraordinary economic success, created the conditions for a whole new class of aspirational Australians to prosper from the inevitable forces of globalisation, confronted the scourge of terrorism and has fundamentally realigned the political landscape in this country on so many fronts.

Under Howard it became cool to be a conservative. He rebuilt a political philosophy of individual responsibility for a new generation. His legacy is profound. From workplace reform to welfare to indigenous politics, to our sense of national identity, Howard has changed the nation in a way very few leaders ever do. Each step rankled his opponents as they clung to old orthodoxies. Yet Howard, through sheer dint of character and intellectual fortitude, prevailed.

But now he must go. ..... <cont>

This sort of thing has actually been happening since the invention of the video camera.

It is how police know who the perpetual trouble makers are. It is how riots can be prevented (by exclusion of said troublemakers).

I imagine it is also how police review their response to trouble. How psychologists can guage when things are about to turn ugly. It would also give them the ability to analyse what makes a 'trigger' for a riot. And holds people accountable when they do riot (if they can be identified of course). Many many benefits I should think.

Arrests, injuries during APEC march

Quote:
Police said the hospitalised officer sustained a head wound after being struck with an iron bar. The other sustained a head injury after being hit with a dart.

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,22383283-601,00.html

And you wonder why police video 'protests' ?

I'm sure most protestors come to make a point and wish a peaceful protest, but there are indeed, those that come intent on violence.

It is sad when people see police as something other than the human beings that they are, as an object deserving of grievious injury and if necessary, death...

...oh they'd argue that "I meant to aim for the arm, not the head - he moved suddenly - it's not my fault"...but they go armed with intent to cause serious injury, and death can sometimes be the result.

We are all, in the end, human, deserving of respect and equality (whatever clothes we wear)
