"Do you see a pattern here?"

As Craven said when the very same thing was posted here already in another thread of its own:

"Yep, a pattern of selection."

I believe the list is comfort food for liberals as they've been assaulted for being pacifists for so long. I don't give it much credence.

This list was quickly compiled for republicans that did indeed serve: I see a pattern of alot of actual COMBAT service from republicans vs national guard and reserve of democrats....Wish I had an hour or two to do total research, but I am trying to figure out your point in your democrats serve more therory...

President GW Bush, Pilot, Texas Air National Guard, 1968-1973.

Colin Powell, Secretary of State
US Army, 35-year career, Vietnam, rose to the rank of 4-star general

Richard Armitage, Deputy Secretary of State
U.S. Navy, Naval Academy, 3 combat tours in Vietnam.

Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense
U.S. Navy, 1954-57, pilot, flight instructor.

Former President Gerald Ford
U.S. Navy, WWII, Lieutenant Commander

Former Vice President Dan Quayle
U.S. Army, Indiana National Guard.

Former President George H. W. Bush
U.S. Navy, pilot, WWII. Shot down by the Japanese

John McCain, Senator (R-AZ)
U.S. Navy, Naval Academy, Pilot, Vietnam POW, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross.

Chuck Hagel, Senator (R-NE)
U.S. Army, two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, Vietnam.

Lindsey Graham, Senator (R-SC)
U.S. Army lawyer, National Guard

U.S. Army, WWII, Italy campaigns, two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star Medal.

Chuck Hagel: two Purple Hearts & a Bronze Star, Vietnam.

Duke Cunningham: nominated for Medal of Honor, Navy Cross, Silver Stars, Air Medals, Purple Hearts.

Jeff Sessions: Army Reserves, 1973! -1986

Leonard Wood : US Chief of staff Medal of Honor winner. US Army Phd

Representative Sam R. Johnson
combat missions in both Korea and Vietnam
POW in Hanoi from April 1966 to February 1973

Senator Ted Stevens, R-AK
WW II pilot
two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Air Medals, and the Yuan Hai medal awarded by the Republic of China.

Representative Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD)
served in USMC in Vietnam; wounded in action

Kerry: Draft Likely to Return Under Bush

On A Side note of the Demo spin of Bush reinstating the draft... The only people wanting one are the people sponsoring this.....

It's quite true that the two bills mentioned would require both men and women aged 18 through 25 to perform a two-year period of "national service," which incidentally could be either military or non-military service. But the bills are sponsored only by Democrats, and there's not the slightest evidence that the Bush administration is pushing for them, quietly or otherwise.

Bills HR 163 and S 89 have been introduced, prior to the War in Iraq by Charles Rangel (D-NY) and Ernest
Hollings (D-SC)respectively.
CO-Sponsors of HR 163:
ABERCROMBIE, NEIL - D, HI
BROWN, CORRINE - D FL
CHRISTENSEN, DONNA - D, VI
CLAY, WM. - D MO
CONYERS, JOHN - D, MI
CUMMINGS, ELIJAH - D, MD
HASTINGS, ALCIE - D, FL
JACKSON LEE, SHEILA - D, TX
LEWIS, JOHN - D, GA
MC DERMOTT, JIM - D, WA
MORAN, JAMES - D,VA
NORTON, ELEANOR HOLMES - D, DC
STARK, FORTNEY - D, CA
VALEZQUEZ, NYDIA D, NY

" I am pleased to be an original co-sponsor of Congressman Rangel's bill, McDermott continued. " If we need to re-instate the draft in order to make the Administration consider the chilling consequences of war, so be it. I hope this will make them realize how important a diplomatic solution really is. "

Hmmm.... nice ... wants a draft to score a point... and playing games...Too Bad they didnt feel that way when our soldiers were dying from 1992-1999... oh well its ok for soldiers to die with a Democrat in charge for lesser reasons......

Ask anyone in the military that deployed to Somolia, kosovo or Bosnia if they were for America or a crusade for others Smile

Just a fact...

Whats wrong with sarcasm?

" If we need to re-instate the draft in order to make the Administration consider the chilling consequences of war, so be it.

Such a childish statement.....

Eh ... how many American troops went to Somalia, Kosovo and Bosnia in total? And how many have now been in Iraq? I think we're talking wholly different beasts, here ...

thanks for posting that list of Republicans who served tho ... at least it brings back the balance.

Lists such as this thread starts with ... well, it would only have made a valid point if it had not been so blatantly cherry-picking ... as itis, its just silly.

I think her point was that those that did not serve that she listed have been coming on tv and talking the tough talk of war and saying things like democrats would make us unsafe. (my words)

Clinton never has acted all tough or anything.
