Another Xmas in Cambodia story?
Not really, I mean if he's going to make this up to make his points about security and at the same time preach about honesty and being straight with the American people...
Yeah, but they're saying he made the whole thing up, and then they go on to say that he did meet with some members. In reality, he probably exaggerated how many people were there, which isn't admirable, but it's also hardly worth writing an article about.
How can Kerry legitimately accuse Bush of lying, and not "being straight with the American people," when he is frequently caught "exaggerating."
It seems to me that when one feels free to "exaggerate" about this kind of thing, or that national leaders the world over have called to express their support, or that one spent X-mas in Cambodia, when it simply isn't true, it shows a pattern of intentional misstatements and an intent to mislead people.
You won't hear me accusing any politician of being a serial truth-teller. I just think this one was blown up for political reasons, as was the Cambodia one you mention.
Well, agreed. I understand a point is being made for political reasons ... but the point apparently being made is that Kerry is a liar - which is not a characteristic most people look for in their candidate for President.
So, I guess we are to assume that Mr. Bush is not a liar.
