:-D

That is just too cool...

Meanwhile, I didn't watch the whole game (I tried, but it was just me and sozlet and she wasn't really into it and was getting bored) (this may sound like a no-brainer, but she usually is happy to watch with me or at least happy to play in the vicinity while I watch and direct her attention to certain plays), was this a Lambeau Leap?

If so, my estimation of the Packers' future just rose a bit higher...

It was indeed! Fun one too, as he nearly jumped into a Lone Lion's Fan... stopped, and then apparently lost his footing because he only made it about 6 inches vertical... but no matter... the loving fans hoisted him the rest of the way, anyway. It was a classic! Also, Brett was the first one into the end zone after him to provide the obligatory ass-slap! Really left little doubt about how things would end up (and I hear that estimation rise, too ).

Oh, I should mention that the Zebras seemed to be big Detroit Fans as well... but no matter. Smile

Woo-hoo!!

Yeah, I read stuff about the questionable holding call negating the TD. But a win is a win is a win, and Donnie getting hoisted up for a Lambeau Leap is goooooood!

NFL Films To Air One Hour Special, 'Favre 4-Ever'

posted 12/16/2004

NFL FILMS TELLS THE COMPLETE STORY OF A FOOTBALL LEGEND IN "FAVRE 4-EVER"

ONE-HOUR SPECIAL NARRATED BY ACTOR BILLY BOB THORNTON

-Premiering Friday, December 24 @ 12:00 p.m. (CT) On FOX

-Re-airs Friday, December 31 @ 8:00 p.m. CT On NFL Network

Quote:
From the car accident that nearly killed him in college, to the emotional 24-hours that followed his father's death and all things in between, NFL Films examines the rollercoaster life of a modern NFL legend, Brett Favre in Favre 4-Ever premiering Friday, December 24 at 1:00 PM ET/ 10:00 AM PT on FOX. The special, narrated by Billy Bob Thornton, precedes the Green Bay Packers-Minnesota Vikings game (FOX, 2:00 PM ET).

Through the use of never-before seen footage, along with revealing personal insights from Deanna Favre (wife), Bonita Favre (mother), Favre's former coaches Mike Holmgren, Steve Mariucci and Jerry Glanville, teammates Doug Pederson, Ryan Longwell and many more, this one-hour special profiles the life and career of the NFL's iron-man quarterback.

Favre 4-Ever re-airs on NFL Network Friday, December 31 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.

Favre on playing after having 30 inches of his intestines removed following a near fatal car accident:
"Everyone is saying 'I don't know if he's gonna play again this year, it doesn't look good.' Dad wasn't one of these guys who would say, 'we'll sit this one out and come back next year.' He just sat in the back of the hospital room and when the doctor leaves he says, 'I don't know, a few days, I think you'll be fine.' I thought the same way."

Favre on learning the quarterback position:
"I was willing to do whatever it took to be a great quarterback, but I didn't know what that was. I worked hard at practice and watched film. When I first started watching film, I was just watching a game. I kept hearing coaches talk about "nickel, nickel." Well I just played along, 'yeah nickel.' Finally one day I pulled Ty (Detmer) aside and said 'what are they talking about when they say nickel?' He said, 'you're joking right?' I said, 'no what is nickel.' He says, 'they pull out a linebacker and put in a defensive back.' I said, 'that's it!' 'Who cares?'

Favre on the decision to play after his father's death:
"There is no doubt he (Favre's father) would have said to me, 'get your ass in there and play. Are you crazy'?"

Favre after his record setting performance against Oakland last season 24 hours after his father's death:
"I believe in God. I was born and raised Catholic, but never really considered myself overly spiritual. If there was ever divine intervention, he was there that night. Under perfect circumstances, I've never been able to do what I did in that game." (Favre threw for 399 yards and four touchdowns in the game.)

Yeah Yeah...you love to dish it out Gus...what's your fave team Chicago?

Darius should be terminated for the year. No excuse for head-hunting. The Packers fans showed class when he was escorted off the field...imagine what Detroit fans would have thrown!

Green Bay is a great football community...the best, so it's a shame that the season might come down to a scramble for an onsides kick.

Calm down, panzade! Let me ask you a question. Do you think that if Barnett would have made the identical hit the Packer fans would have been screaming for his head?

Would they have been yelling things like, "You bastard! You deserve to die!" or "Hang the son of a bitch! What a cheap hit!"

No, panzade, this is football. It wasn't a clean hit, but I believe it was accidental.

I've watched enough football games and listened to enough fans to know that reason takes a back seat to loyalty when it comes to football.

So, yeah, I can dish it out, and I can take it too.

And my favorite team, like I said, is Jacksonville.

Whoever is the latest team to beat the Packers.

Great post. I agree with every word of it... accept that last bit "it's a shame that the season might come down to a scramble for an onsides kick". Just so you know, we've already made the playoffs and whether we're home or away for the wild-card game, it won't be the toughest on the road to the big dance anyway.

GB showed more than enough talent to dominate Jacksonville today... just not on this given Sunday.

If Darrius's hit was any more flagrant, I'd be calling for criminal charges. The league will fine the hell out of him, and rightly so. He could have paralyzed him permanently with an evil blow like that. That's why it's illegal in the first place.

Have lots of fun with our loss Gus, but not at Ferguson's expense. You're wrong if you think our fans wouldn't have shamed Barnett for such a vicious blow. It was clearly intentional. As Panzade pointed out, they showed their class with their restraint. Watch the film. This is not like Sapp's famous hit. Your current reaction was more appropriate for that one.

That was a highly entertaining game.

The Leftwich barely-a-fumble that Sharper ran up and knocked out of the lineman's hand and ran back for a TD; the touchdown pass ripped from Donald Driver's hands and converted to an interception/touchback; the last-minute Favre drive; the ensuing onside kick and rugby scrum for possession...

... and oh yeah, that Jack Tatum-style clothesline of Ferguson by Darius.

Which was not even slightly unintentional.

I absolutely adored Sharper's play. So smart, so cool. It was great.

I saw the hit by Darius and had to turn the thing off. Two reasons -- 1), I was absolutely murderously furious, and that's a state I try to avoid in front of my daughter, and 2), I didn't want her to see the replays. (She wasn't looking the first time, I watch with the sound off.)

Not even slightly unintentional, indeed.

If you turned it off, then you may not know that Ferguson left strapped to the back-board (standard precaution in this type of case), but he did give the thumb up to the crowd on the way out and I did see him move his legs as well. Hopefully, he'll be okay.

The moratorium on leaps does seem over! I wonder what caused it in the first place? Do you think they feared an over-celebration flag perhaps?

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Robert Ferguson suffered a sprained neck with 4:41 remaining in Sunday's game vs. Jacksonville. He will be kept at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay overnight for observation and further evaluation.

Ferguson has movement and sensation in all four of his extremities and is resting comfortably, according to Packers head trainer Pepper Burruss.

An evaluation will be made throughout this week by the team's medical staff relative to Ferguson's availability for Friday's game at Minnesota.

I checked his status online, so knew that much -- also knew that he temporarily lost feeling in his legs, though. Scary.

Can't believe he's even being considered to play in Friday's game, but that would seem to be positive in terms of his overall health.

Awwww....!!! Very Happy

I remember reading somewhere that the renovation put in higher walls, and the Leaps were just plain more difficult. I do notice a change in style -- before they'd like land in the stands, now they kind of launch themselves and hope enough people grab 'em and pull 'em up. Which is almost more endearing.

IC... perhaps that's partially to blame for the need of the hoist-up last week too.
