Pack o-line is looking absolutely and totally pathetic tonight.

This is another one I was happy to miss, I think.

That last call looked like it was baaaaadddd.....

Sucks about the O line though. Did officiating have anything to do with that -- not making calls on the Seahawks' defense? Or were they just bad?

They were just bad. A stiff Seattle secondary gave Rodgers nobody to throw to, and they really didn't try hard enough to establish the run game in the first half (They had success with that in the second half tho). Rodgers couldn't find an open guy, tried to scramble some and just got blown up. There were several drives where he was sacked twice in a row.

@sozobe,

first replay you can clearly see #81 push #37 out of the way...
second replay you can clearly see #43 catch the ball, and he appears to maintain possession all the way to the ground.
at no time did #81 have control of the ball...

NFL Upholds Touchdown Ruling

The NFL upheld the Seahawks' disputed 14-12 win over the Green Bay Packers and resumed meetings with
its locked-out officials in an attempt to resolve an impasse that has prompted torrents of criticism
against the replacement refs.

The NFL said Tuesday that Seattle's last-second touchdown pass should not have been overturned -- but
conceded Seahawks receiver Golden Tate should have been called for offensive pass interference before
the catch.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is meeting with representatives of locked-out officials as planned before
Monday night's controversial ending to the Seahawks-Packers game.

According to a source, there have been ongoing negotiations over the last week. In conversations Monday
afternoon, the parties scheduled sessions for Tuesday, and those meetings are proceeding.

In light of Monday's controversy, the NFL issued a statement on the labor dispute with the referees.

"There is broad agreement that the quality and consistency of officiating can and should be improved. How
to accomplish that is a critical issue separating the two sides in this negotiation," the statement read.
"While the officials' union would like to turn this into purely an economic dispute, we have told the union
and the federal mediator that we are prepared to make reasonable economic compromises and that we will
invest more money in officiating as long as it assures long term improvement.

"We have made a number of specific proposals to accomplish that, including by developing a deeper, more
diverse talent pool that is trained in NFL officiating earlier and more intensively."

While not mentioning the ending of the Packers-Seahawks game, President Barack Obama weighed in on
the dispute between the locked-out officials and NFL via twitter, writing, "NFL fans on both sides of the
aisle hope the refs' lockout is settled soon."

@sozobe,
Oh yeah - heard this replay was about the most watched video -

hear this joke by Conan:
"At the New England Patriots game, coach Bill Belichick was so mad about a call by the replacement referees that he grabbed a ref's arm. Fortunately, Belichick was quickly stopped by the referee's seeing-eye dog."

President Obama's speech to the United Nations yesterday received far less media coverage than the ending of the Packers-Seahawks game.

@sozobe,
Glad I watched that one!

Woo-hoo!!!

(I would have feared for the refs' safety after that non- call on the fumble if the Packers hadn't managed the win. Maybe the Saint's kicker was being merciful when he whiffed. He looked pretty sad tho.)

Lots of new guys stepping up today, happy to see that. Especially Cedric Benson, loved him! Sucks about Jennings, and hope that Aaron's eye will be completely fine. He definitely had some depth perception issues for a little while there. (And the back-up QB certainly isn't a threat to Aaron's job.... Geeesh.)

Order has been restored to the world.

The refs are back and still shitty. The Packers' offense is back. And the secondary is porous once again.

If my prayers have been answered, Pete Carroll is battling a nasty case of chlamydia.

The Seattle game still hurts. One loss is a big deal in the NFL. Particularly if you look at the Packers' schedule. 9 more wins won't be easy to come by.

@Gargamel,
The refs were shitty in some ways but so, so much better in other ways.

The whole pace/tempo of the game was much better. Everything seemed a lot more crisp.

The non-call on the fumble sucked (it came out cleanly, not down by contact). Some blame goes to McCarthy for challenging that earlier call, I can't remember what right now, but it was clear to me before he challenged that it was a good call and I said "you might need that challenge later! don't waste it!" And sure enough....

Yeah, the Seattle game still smarts. Oof.

The secondary seemed to not be communicating right, there were a few "I thought YOU had it!" sorts of situations.

LOVED the 4th-down fake punt/ run (results of which are pictured above).
