Something kind of weird happened when I was watching last night, not sure if I can articulate it exactly. I've been a Packers fan for a very long time. For a long time, thoughts of Packers glory meant the 1996 season. Very past tense. Very bye-bye.

So I found myself oddly elated that so many of my favorite players were THERE, playing, and playing well. There's Rodgers! There's BJ Raji! There's Clay and AJ! There's Greg Jennings! Even Donnie (picking up his 700th reception)!

I'm more used to mourning Reggie White and Antonio Freeman and Brett Favre.

That was a great game. I think the rest of the NFL should be scared.

Great game, though I had $5 on the Saints. What I don't understand is coach Peyton sending rookie Mark Ingram in for the most important run of the game. I mean...where was Sproles?

@sozobe,
Soz, when I read this earlier this morning (oops, it's a minute after noon here), I thought you might enjoy it.

So who saw last night's game?

I only managed to see the first half, and this was definitely a game where the second half was more fun. Catching up on highlight reels this morning though, woo!

Very worried about the loss of Chad Clifton but it looks like, as always (in the recent past anyway), they managed to adapt. (I haven't found anything yet about how bad the injury was/ how long he'll be out. Just that it was a hamstring injury.)

And I continue to be hugely impressed with Rodgers. He's great technically (one highlight reel thing I just saw showed a long pinpoint pass that looked like it was parallel to the ground the whole time) but also emotionally. Really knows how to play through rough spots.

@sozobe,
An encouraging game overall.

Mostly because the defense seemed to tighten up? Still no pass rush, but either our safeties and cornerbacks took a step forward or Matt Ryan was timid.

Looks like Clifton is out for a few weeks? Could be trouble, as historically that position has been a sore spot when he's been injured. Sherrod played well as his replacement, but he's a rookie and apparently didn't impress anybody in the preseason (not that that matters).

I don't think Bulaga is out for much longer, so that's good.

I cannot wait to play the Lions.

@Gargamel,
...and the Bears still suck.

(Brewers sucked, too.)

@sozobe,
I'd be a hell of a lot happier with Rodgers if he'd throw to Finley and Jennings instead of this socialist offense... damn his effective team!

Jordy is cut from the Wesley Welker mold.
