Ooooh.
Doesn't look good 'tall.
And in the picture, there isn't any fire in those eyes. He looks old.
-sniffle-
He sounds like a beaten man, doesn't he?
Yeah.
Oof.
I wonder what it's like for him, watching the Seahawks? You can just see how much influence he had on Hasselbeck.
I hadn't seen the video clip, just watched -- no captions of course, but his expressions spoke volumes.
Actually tearing up a bit.
Oh yeah... I forgot that the video probably wouldn't do you any good.
He talked a lot about how he never thought that he would be done emotionally before he was done physically. He talked about how his daughter will be graduating from high school soon and wanted to spend time with her before she went off to college. He kept saying, "I know I can still play" but would then come up with a reason not to.
Towards the end the interviewer said that it sounds to him like he is leaning pretty heavilly towards retirement. Favre said that as of right now that was a pretty accurate statement.
Favre has had a great career. He is a class guy playing for a class organization. He does sound, soz, as jpinmilw noted, tired. The comment about burning out mentally before physically was telling. Yes, he could play for another year or so, perhaps. But the Packers are in a rebuilding mode with a new coaching staff. They, I hope, have their eye on some young stud quarterback who, if he can play half as well as Bart Starr or Brett Favre, can right the Packers.
By the way, look for Favre to run for US Congress from his home state of Mississippi. You heard it here first, as far as I know, not in 2006, but no later than 2008.
Nonsense. I seriously doubt Favre will disappoint many fans should he choose to return. His skills are still there; it was his supporting staff that wasn't. Show me one quarterback that wouldn't appear to be on the Decline if you gutted his Offensive Line, injured his best receiver as well as his first 5 starting running backs (I like Gato too, but we finished nearly dead last in running offense). Frankly, I hope he runs across this drivel as it may serve to fire him up!
Go Packers!
(It was the Onion...)
But agreed about firing him up!
Heck, that may have been the actual point (Onion
)
Longwell is gone. The Vikings signed him.
Someone tell Bill and Soz.
Mixed feelings. Our special teams have been laughable across the board, so it might be a good thing to mix it up a bit.
Bring you scraggly ass to Chicago, Gus; so I can buy you a drink. Might even be able to get RJB to bring you a jar of shine, eh?

Congratulations Vikings fans!
May Mr. Longwell give you an exact replay of his past season with GB.
Personally, I'm not at all sad to see him go. Seems to me, if you wanna put a big price tag on your kicking abilities, then you oughta be able to kick in warm AND cold weather. You simply just suck it up. Without all the whinning and excuses for your sub par playing.
Time for new blood.
...and hope the new guy is named Farandaccurate.
Apparently Saturday is D-day for Favre. Word on the street is GB has given an ultimatum to Favre and given him until Saturday to make his decision as to whether or not he will be playing next year.
They need to prepare for the rapidly approaching draft which depends on large part as to whether or not he comes back.
Favre denies that there is an ultimatum and defiantly stated, "What are they going to do... cut me?"
This weekend is allegedly D-Day.
But if we're going on hearsay, ESPN seems to think he's coming back.
