52-3?!

Wow!

Highlights, Bill? (Didn't see it... pout...)

Oh man, NAJEH is out for the season now?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...!

Quote:
The Saints (2-3) couldn't stop a depleted Packers offense that was missing Pro Bowlers Javon Walker, Ahman Green and Bubba Franks (for all but one snap), and starting center Mike Flanagan.

Shocked

That is UGLY, man... I mean, the "couldn't stop" part is amazing, but -- Ahman, Javon, Bubba AND Najeh? Ooooohhhh.... <shaking head>

Hey, the North isn't the only shitty division this year. And it's early in the season.

The injuries will be a huge problem, admittedly.

But it was good to see Brett smiling. And not throwing interceptions.

I had to go find some Brett smiling pictures. Few things cheer me up faster.

Awwwww....

(I do love Ferguson. May he stay healthy.)

Laughing There was nothing but Highlights. Cool Brett played the exact same gunslinger-game he always does... but with better luck. He rules. Defense was crazy opportunistic and I think they scored 2 touchdowns themselves... with at least another TD off turnovers. Personally, I think they've been over achieving all season and will likely continue to do so. We'll need some unknowns to step up on O, and Brett's going to have to make some hero's out of a so-far-rather unremarkable group... buy hell... he's done that before. Smile This week's game should really tell the tale.
Prognosis: Better than average! Go Pack!

He HAS done that before!

There's hope! A tiny, tiny smidgeon, but there's hope!

Here's the tavern I told you folks about a while back - its about as Packer-Centric as it gets (note the 2 Green & Yellow, Packer-Logo-bedecked busses- they're used for regular trips to relatively nearby Packer games and other foolishness)
http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/354/gspot7ya.jpg

Here's a shot of the bar - note the embedded yardlines, and the overall Green & Yellow theme of the decor
http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/2113/img00368er.jpg

Looking from the bar toward The Game Room - note the "G" logo on the pool table and the overall Green & Yellow decor theme
http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/1210/img00249fs.jpg

Sorta the reverse view; looking from The Game Room back toward the bar area; the theme is constant Laughing

Another perspective of the bar area - Jamie, the barmaid shown, is about 4'10, 95 pounds - real efficient, and she don't take up much space (she hates hearing that Laughing )

Of course, it ain't ALL football (note the picture on the TV in the above photo)
http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/1595/img00398kk.jpg

All sortsa GB memorabilia scattered about; autographed photos, jersies, and game balls, pics of tavern folk at various games posing with players, that sorta stuff. Good burgers, great ribs, and, naturally, a super all-you-can-eat Friday Fish Fry ($7.95) - this is Wisconsin, remember

Great spot, Timber! If you ever find yourself an hour south of Tampa, on Bradenton Beach you'll find a bar decked out like that as well. We happened upon it quite by accident when I failed to make a wedding reservation in time at a Bradenton hotel and wound up staying on Bradenton Beach instead. That bar, and the B&B on that tiny Island, is what I miss most about Tampa's departure from our division. Go Pack!

A buddy of mine--we may be the only Wisconsin refugees in town--checked the team website. Apparently there's a list of Packer-loyal bars around the country. He found one in Birmingham. I'll make the trip for the big games I reckon, Vikings, Bears.

What's your story of Packer fandom, Gargamel? I lived in Madison 1989 - 1997. Spent the first couple of years as a residual Vikings fan (grew up in Minneapolis), while Majik was QB (bleh), then at some point (right around the arrival of Brett, I think) I gave in.

Yeah, I know. I actually thought of this thread this morning. The other day I was talking to one of the preschool dads and noticed he was wearing a green and gold jersey. "Packer fan?", I asked. He looked a bit sheepish, owned up to it. I quickly explained that I'm a longtime fan, own stock, etc. We both talked about how we can't even watch lately but how the silver lining is that we have all of this extra time. This is the first time in my life, pretty much, that football has no place in my Sunday schedule.

Pffff.

I did note that Bubba Franks may be coming back soon, that'd be cool.

I guess I hold out a tiny bit of hope for miraculous recoveries, a wildcard spot, and then the newly healthy team romping all the way (since they're plenty good if they're just HEALTHY...)

Goddamn Bears. I used to enjoy chalking that one up as a W well before kickoff. But times have changed--this season. That's right, we'll nurse those injuries and kick some serious ass soon enough.

Things have changed for sure.

All the cool-aid drinking Packer Fans up here were talking all week about how the Bears weren't taking GB seriously and were going to play weak. I think they may have been right... Favre shouldn't have been able to get up from a couple of those hits if we were playing as hard as we could.
