Why can't we have a socialistic healthcare system? I don't hear too many canadians complaining about their system.
All I know is that in my plan, I have gone to my doctor a few times in the past few years, and I'm not impressed. Doctor Altstein is my doctor's name. That's all I know about him. I have no idea what he looks like, since I have never actually seen the guy. Everytime I need to go to the doctor, I get a new guy, usually someone who looks about six months out of med school. Hell, I don't even know if Doctor Altstein even exists! I can only imagine how annoyingly bureacratic it must be for someone who actually has health problems.
So why do we keep this ulcer-inducing system?
I'm not impressed with America's health care system either. Even if you have health insurance, the out of the pocket expenses and co-pays have become expensive. So, when do we get the same coverage as our senators and congressmen...my guess is...never.
I have a really hard time believing that even after paying what I pay evey month, out of pocket, for health care I STILL have to pay $20 copays and $20 a month for a scrip. The insurance doesn't cover hearing aids, which I actually should have gotten years ago or preventative things like chiropractic visits. And, I don't even think my lifetime limit is very high. Right now I pay out $360/month for this and it goes up around 10% every year. It goes up even though insurance companies are some of the only companies to continue to grow through this last recession. Grrrr.....
