I too noticed the spittle and it was very distracting; I kept wondering how they were going to get word to him to wipe his mouth. Also, in regards to the left side of his face being slack, I found myself wondering if that had always been the case and I just hadn't noticed it before. With all that going on who could pay attention to what was said? Of course that's assuming anything of substance was said.

I don't think it is anything this serious. Don't think a stroke or any such--though, of course, all this (including mine) is speculation.
