That is an excellent description Ceili ....Similarly,
ever notice how some clothing purchased on
holiday never looks "right" at home?
depends what you buy I guess... yes I have seem people wearing some hideous things from Asia. But, it is just because they seem LOUD sometimes.
loud colours work better with sunshine (and dark skin as previously pointed out)
she paints - I had to pm my reply to your pm as your email didn't work for some reason - can you pick up the message and get back to me? I've given you my email. (thanks)
back to the topic .....
my last message seems to have disappeared...
oh well, I did mention that the boys don't usually have a clue about what not to put on, it is like that pea green "sweater" mentioned earlier, if it is comfortable, they wear it. Mostly.
I'm the one that will wear the pea green sweater, and am a girl...
opps - sorry.
to dob myself in, I used to get comments about "holes" in my clothing and I am still in possession of a large sloppy, black cardigan type thing that is riddles with holes, yet the comments have stopped. Colours? Now like I mentioned before, I feel like an imposter when I wear too many, so it is not so much the issue. So honestly, we are all as bad as each other... comfort
In his book 'Chromophobia' Batchelor says that
Aristotle stated that " a random distribution of
the most attractive colours would never yield
as much pleasure as a definite image without
colour."

(This is from that art news site I am just exploring..., mentioned long ago by JLN)
you know the first thing I thought before I rad how they would be set up - I saw one big, fat booby trap for muggers.
But it's ok.
It should be pretty - against the winter cityscape. I still have my doubts about Christo, he verges on the annoying art topic, but I mentioned him before there.
I am having trouble with the artdaily.com site. You get updates and it gives you all these incredible things to look at - but you can't reach them except, I gather, on the right day. I had given the Noland link when I posted, and you are seeing Christo and wife and now I am. I guess it will be somewhere/someone else tomorrow. Which is fine, if you could still see the other ones.
I guess one can't go back and review, as far as I can see. (so and so in Bilbao, etc..) I had meant, when I found Noland, to link to Twombly, but I guess I was late.
But all the links have different numbers, and maybe I don't understand how the site works... but I don't think that's it, it must be one notice a day, kaboom. Will double check in the morning.
I can't read updates from all the places I get them every day -- For example, I read about a week's worth of ArchNewsNow updates in a sitting, when convenient - and they remain available and you can check back on information.
Irritatedly,

Really makes you appreciate the work Craven does here on A2K, doesn't it?
Oh, yes, Craven is superb.
Yes, he is. But how come I can't get into the gallery? Is this a temporary condition? I'm asked for my user name and password. I don't know them. How does one find out? Where does one find the HELP key?
Helpless
You, and me and others can't get into the gallery for a day or two now, and C has shut some a2k features off in a general maintenance effort, which is apt to take up part of this thxgiving weekend.. He has needed to retool the gallery, and will be doing it when he gets a chance.
He is moving the gallery to another server, so it won't take up so much bandwidth here, and will offer more goodies, apparently - whenever he can find time to do it.
Anyway, it is not just you shut out, jl, but all of us.
Usually there is some thread about what is going on in Forum Help... look at that from time to time, at the latest threads...
Thanks, Osso. I knew you'd come across. Hmmm, that doesn't sound right.
Come across, shorty, come across... (er, that was a snippet of lyrics...)
And, JL and L, a happy thanksgiving to you, and to all here on the art threads..
Hey ! Today my dad said something about eating ossobuco... or something like that. It's a meal right? Like a regional plate.
That's true, el pohl.
I picked the name because I like the sound of the word, but I've also eaten the dish about four times in my life... no, by now it is about six times.
It is made from a particular cut of veal or beef (or lamb) with the shank bone left intact, and cooked very slowly, as in braising, with various other things to make it quite a flavorful dish.
I picked the name one day several years ago, and got to be known by it, so I stick with it, though I rarely eat veal, and rarely - but do occasionally - actually cook ossobuco with either beef or lamb.
It's sort of like naming yourself teeshirt and then sticking with it for years on end.
