The internet, and to a somewhat lesser degree here, is generally a very anonymous place. People say things that they probably would never say if they were talking to you in person. I know it's difficult, but it really is best to try and ignore the few clowns here that love to rile other folks up. Some make it their role here to do so.
If I were you, I would hang around the folks here that tend not to be hostile and back-stabbing, and not be constantly controversial.
