I don't get it. El Kabong used to swing in on a rope, attached to who-knows-what, and whack the bad guys with a guitar. Or is there another El Kabong?

Well, lotta people on those lists, including, I guess, Senator Kennedy. Though I suppose this one was more purposeful.
I think Cat is a peace man, until proven otherwise, and I would take that otherwise with a grain of salt.

I still have his album. Not as an icon, I was never and am not now, sir, an avid fan, but still...I liked the album..it was an album I never ditched, meant something to me.

I can take or leave most of his recordings, but Morning Has Broken is high on my list of all-time favorites. He went a bit far supporting the threats on Salmon Rushdie, but he has very strongly denounced the kind of terrorism that takes innocent lives.

I was not aware he supported the assassination order on Salmon Rushdie and if this is so, my opinion of him would certainly drop many notches.....and it might temper my opinion of the situatioin, but I would certainly be shocked to find he supported terrorism given his track record....

Well then, perhaps he has become unstable. Supporting murder of any kind is not good, whether coming from Cat Stevens or A2K right wing nuts.....I am sure we won't hear any details in any case.......

I can't get into the guy's head to interpret, but he obviously had some confused loyalties.

Cat Stevens just happened to be one of my favorites during the time of his popularity. We really don't know what he has been doing, or what he has been teaching in his school. I think that the only reason that two threads have been written about this incident, is because he was a former pop star.
