One Sunday each month the San Diego Chapter of the Veterans for Peace place crosses, stars of David, and crescent on the beach in Oceanside to commemorate our Iraqi war dead. Including the ones that die in hospital which are not included in the official count by DOD.

Last month there were 1,100. It is interesting that it is the Marines from near by Camp Pendleton are the most thankful for this small gesture. Jim Brown the Chapter President is always available to talk to the young soldiers. He is a Vietnam Vet, a Marine Capt. and platoon leader in Vietnam.
