We demand accountability from corporations (read Enron), the military (read Rumsfeld) why not demand it of our media elites such as CBS News and Dan Rather?

Ah, it was all deeds of Karl Rove.
Karl "The Diabolical" Rove has no equal when it comes to dirty tricks, or frequent flyer miles back to Texas to arrange this carefully conceived plot.
It's a fact: Karl knew David Burkett was sitting in his home in fun-filled, scenic, sunny Baird, Texas, smoldering over the Bush poll numbers while fondling his National Guard medal for Outstanding Typing.
Karl forged memos which would discredit his boss, the President of the United States, and again call into question his "interesting" service in the Texas Air National Guard.
Karl knew CBS would run with the ball, and knew in advance through his Psychic Hotline connections that CBS would not carefully check the documents with anyone with an IQ over that of a potted palm.
And, Madame Whotheheck assured Karl the competing MSM media would jump on this like trailer trash on Velveeta, and would attack CBS for its stupidity and aging anchors retention program.
Slipping into Abilene unnoticed -- which is not easy for Karl as both dogs in town would wake up -- Karl cleverly disguises himself as David Burkett replete with tin foil hat and Kerry For President button, and slips into Kinkos and asks the clerk to fax the mutant memos to Dastardly Dan in Knu Yawk.
Dan took the bait like cheese in a trap, checked with experts to make sure they were written in English, and then told the world he FINALLY had evidence George W. Bush missed a physical!!!!!!!
Re: Rathergate - How About Some Accountability?
Well, if we follow the examples you give us then we can expect to continue demanding accountability but receiving none.
