It's official: Kerry to re-institute AWB if elected

Kerry has made it official: if elected, he will ram through a new AWB.
The new AWB, which has already passed the Senate, will ban *all* semi-auto
shotguns, and many rifles which were exempted by name in the late
unlamented Clinton AWB.

The frightening part is that Kerry just may get elected, all because of
gun owners who can't be bothered to vote because "it won't make any
difference."

Enough gun owners are out there to make a difference, *if* they shake off
this complacency and *vote*.

In 1996, Washington State gun owners woke up and defeated an initiative
that would have established New York City style gun control -- one that
all the polls in the liberal media claimed would pass in a landslide.
That year had voter turnout that had not been seen before, or since. The
anti-gun Seattle Times ruefully wrote that the 79% NO vote "wasn't just a
`no', but rather a `Hell, no.'"

There is more to owning a gun than hunting. Trap shooters enjoy demonstrating their capabilities by using semi-automatic shotguns in their sport. Why should they be denied the right to do that?

Most good hunters need but a single bullet or arrow, thus the popularity of muzzle loading.

I suspect that Kerry said no such thing. He may have said he'd support the ban but he and everyone else knows that unless he can also manage to get a Democratic majority in the House and Senate he isn't going to "ram through" anything. No President can sign anything into law unless the bill is passed by both houses of the Congress first.

It probably won't help to mention that Bush supports the ban or that Kerry is for/against everything under the sun.
Would it?

I realize that I am fixing to get a tree hugger reputation, but has anyone watched "Bambie" lately? I watched the other night with my little granddaughter and I can't imagine why anyone would want to kill a deer or any other animal for no reason other than you just want to. To quote a line from My Cousin Vinny, "Imagine you're prancing along by the brook...and bam...a bullet!" I mean why would anyone want to do that?

Bush said he would sign the bill if it got to his desk knowing Frisk wouldn't let it get to his desk. Then he also said that he would sign it as is, knowing that the ban needed some admenments. He is just a con artist.

As for the rest of your post, yea, yea, we heard a million times. It is getting a bit old.

Have you ever been hunting? Did you know that if you don't eat the meat there are butchers that will take the meat and donate it to people who don't have any food? I know that I am going Elk hunting this year and if I happen to get something then I'm going to eat it and enjoy every bite.

There is more to hunting then just killing an animal, there is a certain skill involved in order to hunt. You just don't sit in the woods and have them walk up to you, if you did that then it wouldn't be considered a sport.

The problem isn't that we don't have enough gun laws on the books.

The problem is that the existing gun laws aren't being enforced. It's already illegal for felons and minors to own firearms. So why infringe on the rights of the law abiding?

Banning certain classes of semi-automatic firearms becuse criminals unlawfully use them is like banning cars because some people drive drunk.

Baldimo:
You didn't respond to the question. Why? "Why would anyone want to do that?" I hope you enjoy your elk trip this year. Why not take your Nikon and leave the Weatherby at home? And if you really want a steak, cruise on down to the Safeway.

Non-hunters fail to realize the environmental benefits that hunting provides.

Wow, I can't believe Im hearing this. I live in a place where people would starve if they didnt hunt. They eat off the land, yes, its true they kill deer, pheasant, grouse, elk, moose, and much more, but you know what that does? it feeds thier family.

So they next time you bite into your hamburger you get from a local resturaunt, think about that and think about what it's like to be one of them..they get slaughtered for food only.

I have people in my home town that not only eat them, they almost worship them. they take much pride and time in baiting, setting up, buying gear, going out for the big hunt, showing thier children what our ansenstors used to do, and then when they get it....They eat the meat, use the hid, mount them as trophies, why? It's called respect for the animal that almost got away or the HUGE animal, or some other story about this remarkable creature. When is the last time you saw a cow mounted somewhere...where do all them parts go that are leftover...check it out, might make you sick. So next time you start bashing hunters, just think a little bit.

And about Bush, he didnt sign it beacause it never got to him...Kerry says its his fault a "failure of presidental leadership" I believe he called it.

Kerry was the one with the power to bring it up to him and guess what...he never even tried, so who's fault is it really?

And assualt weapons, go find out the 19 models that are banned before you start talking about blowing off a bunch of hot air. NONE of them are automatic..those were banned in 1934. These weapons are the same rifles we hunt with daily, they just have a scary appearance.

I hope some of you realize what I am trying to say and if you feel a certain way, get the facts before forcing your bullshit theories on others.
