Kman said, "im jus gonna say jeff."
Well, you had a 20% chance. But, is it right?

Zippy said, "mike did it."

You both cannot be right. Nevertheless, who was killed?

As for Zippy's puzzle, it's looking fishy to me!

In answer to Tryagain's latest riddle, (incidently these are great!!)

Just following a logical sequence:

-Dan is innocent since he couldn't have run the marathon with one leg.
-Ben is innocent since he can't be Jack's brother since he only met him six months ago.
-Mike is innocent since he can't have been Jack's brother since Seattle is a city, (I think!)
-Jack is innocent since his brother did it.

Hence it must have been Jeff!

Now for the victim....

Right this one may be circumstantial. Assuming all statements true>

If someone was alone for a day, it wouldn't be considered seclusion, hence the Murder took place before the marathon. Therefore:

- Dan cannot be the victim, he ran in the marathon
- Jeff cannot be the victim, he was the murderer
- Jack cannot be the victim, he's in seclusion and thus still alive.
- Cannot be Ben. This one is debateable. If Jeff commited the murder he wouldn't build a computer with the victim, assuming these statements were taken after the crime.

Therefore the victim was Mike.

So..........
Victim - Mike
Murderer - Jeff

The fish tank is irrelevent. The water is melted ice from the icicle which was used to stab the man.

Zippy said, "there is water on the floor next to the body."

The weapon used was; an' ice pick'.

c_k_b_69 who, judging from recent events it must be said, is no computer wizard.

Reached the perfect answer. I urge all to read his deduction. Cool

Solution

1. Jack is not the murderer, because he is the brother of the murderer.
2. Dan can't be the murderer since he ran a marathon, and the murderer recently had his leg amputated, and wouldn't be running a marathon of any magnitude that quickly.
3. Ben is not the murderer if he just met Jack, since Jack and the murderer grew up together.
4. This leaves Jeff and Mike. Since Jeff is still alive (he wants to install a new computer next week, present tense) he must be the murderer. Mike also did not grow up with Jack.

It has been determined that Jack, Dan and Jeff are all alive. Ben must also be alive since Jeff plans to install Ben's computer next week. This means that Jeff killed Mike.
