My GFI outlet won't set into operational mode. I've pushed "Test" and then tried to "Re-Set" but the little LED flashes red for a split second and trips the outlet. I replaced the GFI outlet with a standard outlet and plugged in a tester and it showed everything fine from a wiring standpoint. I then bought a new GFI outlet and tried it but the problem still persists.
@Mark Skrtich,
Mark it might be doing what it's s'posta. Leakage somewhere behind the wall
@Mark Skrtich,
Quite often GFCI outlets are used to protect other normal type outlets. If this is the case with yours, there could be something plugged into a downstream protected outlet which is causing the problem.
Does your GFCI have any wires connected to the load terminals?
