What watched over you at night?

For most of my university days, I had a Willie Nelson poster and Hopalong Cassidy as well. I switched out the others on the walls.

@ehBeth,
Posters during high school (and afterwards). Let me dive into my brain's archive to pull them out to day light.

I never had an interest in posters.

Never.

The closest I got was a thing from the Village Voice years back that was a sketching thing of the village. I recall it showed falafel places every third or fourth store. (It was a falafely time back then). Then there was a campaign sign I took off a lamp post and put up in a window. Aside from those, nothing.

I did however have some carpeted walls...

@ehBeth,
I lived at home, which was a few miles from campus. Only one poster -

http://www.edgar-degas.org/The-Absinthe-Drinker.jpg
Degas' The Absinthe Drinker. I'd never tasted alcohol back then and didn't know what absinthe was.

I thought it was an interesting painting, even put varnish on it to make it more like a real painting (or so I thought). Bought it at the old Campbell's bookstore in Westwood, the bookstore now long gone.

I had a lot of magazines in my room, including a stack of Sport's Illustrateds and fashion mags and on that I haven't changed all that much over time - just the types of magazines. Well, the internet has made a big dent, but I kept up the magazines until not too long ago.

In students houses, I don't remember so well what I had on the walls. There were definitely some posters - I think mostly about concerts I'd been to, scraping the poster from some wall. I had some nicked traffic signs too. (Ok, a bit of a collection). But I'm having trouble remembering specific posters. Mano Negra was one of them, they were awesome. Some reggae band too.

I remember a couple of the posters I had on my walls at home when I was in high school, though. It's more important at that time, all caught up in defining your identity and all that.. And in some other stuff as well.. I remember a Simple Minds poster (oh dear), "Waterfront" I think. And two Siouxie Sioux posters, one a giant one in garish colours and one with a rather sexy photo by Anton Corbijn.

@ossobucotemp,
Oh that reminds me. I did have a poster of a Modigliani painting on my wall when I was a student.

@nimh,
At university (universities), I had a room in a private home - no posters, as far as I can remember.

At home, copies of old charts and maps, two paintings, some 1900 plaster angels.

@ossobucotemp,
I liked a lot of magazine covers - put some in cheap frames. I've still got a couple here that I first saved about 40 years ago. One is from the back of a reader's digest.

@ehBeth,
I've also framed a couple of pages from calendars - one in particular that had an old man and a corgi walking down a lane. That's much more recent though. I might have posted it on here, not sure. I remember giving it to the veterinarian's office, but now not sure if that was after I lost Pacco or Katy - good helpful and kind people at that place.
