"State lawmakers appear ready to pull the plug on a political experiement now seen as an expendable luxury in the state's current budget-slashing climate. The Joint Budget Committee voted unanimously Wednesday to recommend elimination of Colorado's presidential primary."
I always wondered why state's footed the bill for primaries to begin with. Primaries are entirely internal to the political parties. Why aren't the parties paying for them?
I wonder if this has anything at all to do with the current Colorado initiative to decide if the state will continue to be an electoral winner-take-all, or if it will become a proportional electoral vote state, like Maine and Nebraska.
