The law had required abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital, and required abortion clinics to conform to the standard of outpatient surgical centers.

This just shows, again, that supreme court nominees are critical to liberal ideals...but go ahead and vote for Jill Stein.

@maporsche,
The Democrats are socially liberal to a small extent, in some areas. It's how they trick liberals into voting for them.

@edgarblythe,
Care to specify what 'areas' a Clinton appointed supreme court justice would 'trick liberals'???

@maporsche,
I haven't see any appointments from her. Neither has anybody else. I am saying, in the overall political scheme.

@cicerone imposter,
There is a bit of opinion involved in deciding how conservative or liberal someone is, but overall the positions listed on the graphs seem within the bounds of reasonableness.

@rosborne979,
Any time a TEXAS law is struck down, that IS good news.

@ehBeth,
Agreed.

What I meant was things that many of us would consider 'settled law' like abortion, civil rights, affirmative action, are under attack to this day and voting for someone like Jill Stein is effectively making a Trump presidency more likely.

Anyone who thinks that Clinton and Trump would make similar Supreme Court appointees....well, I'm not sure anyone really thinks they would.

A conservative judge on cases like this (or other liberal cases) could be the swing vote and would help undermine decades of progress.

If Trump gets elected, I put the blame squarely where it belongs. On Democrats and Republicans.

You understand that the blame would ENTIRELY be on the voters right??

But on the other hand, the Liberals are devoted to violating the Second Amendment. If you want your gun rights protected, that's going to require more Conservative justices.

At least a good rule of thumb.

It's their fault for not fielding decent candidates, not mine for not voting for them.

@edgarblythe,
Interesting take.

Voters elect the president. If you don't like the president, then the fault is with the voters.

Not sure how it can be viewed any other way.

@maporsche,
According to a University of Texas, Austin, poll, Trump is ahead of Clinton. The interesting aspect of the poll is that Trump's lead is based on the fact that many prefer to choose Clinton's adversary, and not necessarily that they prefer Trump.
Is that a case of Catch 22?

@cicerone imposter,
I was expecting 4-4 so 5-3 is a great victory for personal choice.
