Doing a slightly better job than Bill Clinton really isn't much of an achievement.
Having a clear vision and killing bad guys wins votes.
Bush is not quite as dumb as he appears to be. But he's not that smart either, and occasionally the truth slips out.
Hence his off guarded comments that "the war on terror can not be won", "Saddam was not connected with 9/11".
Its quite entertaining once you understand the rules of the game.
