Will the past hurt me?

I work as a Correctional Officer in Texas
And I am thinking about changing jobs. Mainly for the reason for more
money. But before I do I would like to ask a personal Director from any big
company what they think. I in my younger years have burn a few bridges. Also
I have had a 16% MMI. One time Vlasic Foods international (who I worked for)
5 years ago was going out of business.

And they were getting rid of people who had been with them 15 years or
longer. When my number was called I did know of things they were doing that
was wrong, dangerous to employees . and some people that were sick were told
they could not file a claim so I called OSHA and EPA and signed the report.
There was an investigation and they were found guilty what I did was right
it stopped people from coming in to work and getting Diaz ion all over them
every day and helped me hang on to a job that was feeding my family . I did
learn one thing from all this. You can lay down in front of the entrance way
to work and people will tell you what a good thing you are doing to help
other people but they will run right over you to get to the time clock.
What I am trying to find out is if I get a new job in another line of work
will this come back and bite me. I am doing well at the job I have my wife
can not work and dose not get any check. She is a very good mother. Been
with her 31 years now. And we have one child at home he was a late arrival
and a Blessing to us. I have to work and that's fine with me. But I also
need a professional to be straight up with me to help me decide if I take a
new job. In a warehouse for Wal-mart can be up to 600 a week take home. I go
Monday for the interview. And I intend to be straight up with them. Can you
help me find someone to ask . Thank you ... CFM

updateing
I went to the interview and Answered all the question honestly and gave them more information as stated in the first post. In the last 3 ½ years I have missed one day of work and never have been late. Even out of 75 Officers there were 7 named for doing there jobs and following policy I was one of the 7 if I do not get the job I will not be disappointed . if I do or do not get it I will post a follow-up just for anyone's information . To bad there are no personal directors on this board. Well off to work I go-

Follow up for the interview at wal-mart
Well here is the follow up on my interview.
I received a letter in the mail stating that (Basically) "We at Wal-Mart have many application and we do our best to choose the right person we feel is best for the job.
I do not intend to detest this but just for my information I wonder what the average age is at a distribution center for Wal-Mart. And what makes for a good employee in terms for employment? 20 years in production supervisory skills. Awards for safety.
And last but not least as I stated in one post I have missed one day of work in 3 ½ years at my current position and the job before that I missed 1 time in 5 years what are they looking for? I might as well stay where I am and try to get a side business going. In 31 years I have done well 1 time I had trouble at the end of Vlasic foods. Can anyone tell me what type of background check they do? I did see the news that Wal-Mart will only hire people with out a criminal record. So why are so many people out of CCA Use to Be TDCJ. Doing working there? I will make it

Was the job you applied for a supervisory position? If not your 20 years of previous supervisory work may have scared them off.

(btw, I wouldn't even mention the Vlassic incident to any potential employers. The Federal Whistleblower Protection Act sould prevent Vlassic from ever saying anything about it should someone call them and ask about you.)

Additionally, Occupational Safety and Health regulations requires that agency to keep your identity confidential.

Thabks for the advice
I will listen to them next time I look for a job. I will not mention it OSHA TDA EPA I still feel being straight up is a good thing... Out of all the years I have worked that last year with Vlasic was the only issue in my work history. It's kind of funny the older you get the more you learn. Kind of like a day late and a dollar short.. Thank Yall for the advice. This is one of the best boards I have seen so much interesting reading Very Happy
