Ever Wonder About the Swiftness of the Patriot Act?

I was thinking the other day about how quickly legislators were able to come up with the Patriot Act. It is a very complicated and lengthy piece of legislation, that should have taken much longer to write than it did, IMO.

Ever wonder how it was written so quickly? Ever wonder why so many of our representatives signed on to it, later admitting to not having read it?

Well, it appears Clinton DID understand the threat of terrorism and had already started the process of attempting to avoid what happened 9/11 as far back as 1995. Most of our legislators were already familiar with it. http://www.cdt.org/policy/terrorism/cnss.cti.anal.html

You can see other steps towards addressing terrorism that have been taken or addressed here: http://nsi.org/terrorism.html
