N. Korea calls Bush "human trash"
Tue 24 August, 2004 11:47

By Jack Kim

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has hurled invective at U.S. President George W. Bush for a second day, calling him a political idiot and human trash, and has said six-party talks on Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions appear doomed.

A day earlier, a Foreign Ministry spokesman for the isolated communist state described Bush as a tyrannical imbecile who put Adolf Hitler in the shade and said Pyongyang could see no justification to negotiate with his administration.

Bush had "hurled malignant slanders and calumnies" against the leadership in Pyongyang, the North's official KCNA news agency said in a statement on Tuesday, referring to campaign comments made earlier this month that Pyongyang should be required to disarm.

"It is the greatest tragedy for the U.S. that Bush, a political idiot and human trash, still remains in the presidential office of the world's only superpower, styling himself an emperor of the world," KCNA said.

"Had Bush have even an iota of elementary reason, morality and ability to judge reality as a human being, he would have not dared defile the political system of his dialogue partner so malignantly.

Bush enraged the North shortly after taking office when he called North Korean leader Kim Jong-il a loathsome "pygmy" and then later branded his impoverished nation a member of an "axis of evil" along with Iran and pre-war Iraq.

Is there any way we could arrange a Bush-Kim match on celebrity boxing? (for those who remember that show.)

ebrown, that is the best idea I've heard all day. I think Bush could probably take him. He's got the size and reach advantages.

Whoa! That's some pretty strong stuff!

One thing I noticed was that at least NK recognized that it was Bush, one person, rather than a sweeping comment about Americans. There's at least some comfort for me in knowing other more intelligent leaders in the world recognize the difference.

I am tempted to respond in words attributed to Noel Coward, (after witnessing a huge and lavish production of the opers, Aida, which featured a live elephant on stage, which contributed an, also huge and lavish, pile of dung):

"Shocking manners, of course - but my dear! What a critic!"

Only I think manners, especially towards one's own people, are important - and Kim has few.
