Can anybody find the article in Reader's Digest they are quoting from? I recall that she has said before that no mortal was qualified to be president but that John came pretty close. It's kind of assinine to believe that she doesn't think her husband is capable. That's almost a willful misinterpretation.

Isn't the Boston Herald the Boston version of the NY post?

I happen to like Teresa- She has grit. I happen to agree with what she is saying, and I don't think that it is a knock against her husband.

The presidency IS a formidable job, and is certainly much too much for one person. So that's why the president has advisors, cabinet officers, and the Congress!

FreeDuck- This is a new article. I think that you would have to pay for a copy of the Reader's Digest to get that. I haven't checked, but some magazines post articles from older editions of their magazines, so I don't know if RD does!

My mother gets the magazine. When I go over to her house, I'll swipe her copy, and copy the relevent quote.

I entered it correctly into google and nothing came up. Why didn't you try it yourself before accusing me of a mistake I didn't make?

If I wanted Readers Digest website, trust me, I am skilled enought o find it. Also, skilled enough to smell a rat.

Accepted...anyway, it just appears that the usual suspects, the freepers, etc are trying to make hay out of this before anyone actually reads the quote in its proper context.

In the context of the article, I agree with her. She's looking at the bigger picture, as in "What one person, could ever be considered 100% qualified to be the ruler of the world? It is such an awesome responsibility, what with the power the US holds." (That's my interpretation of it, not her actual quote.)

The full quote, to put it in context, was "I think nobody is truly qualified to be president of the United States," she said. "I mean, are you qualified to run the world, not run it, but have that influence? No, nobody is."

Not a dis' on John at all. Only a statement on the size of the job and perhaps that she is feeling a little testy about attacks on her husband, as if he is expected to be 100% qualified whne no one can be.

Squinney - I think we're all feeling a little testy about seeing our candidates attacked and it's probably only going to get worse as we get closer to Nov. 2. I think most on both sides are trying to look at the truth of the issues, but a little humor is understandable now and then.

I can only imagine what both families are feeling when they happen upon some of the worst of it - it has got to hurt unless they're made of steel. It does make one wonder why anyone would want the job.
