.... having left his original home, for good:

Adelaide

The wisteria on the back verandah is still blooming
And all the great aunts are either insane or dead
Kensington Road runs straight for a while before turning
We lived on the bend it was there I was raised and fed
Counting and running as I go
Down past the hedges all in a row
In Adelaide, Adelaide

Dad's hands used to shake but I never knew he was dying
I was thirteen I never dreamed he could fall
And all the great aunts were red in the eyes from crying
I rang the bells I never felt nothing at all
All the king's horses all the king's men
Cannot bring him back again

Find me a bar or a girl or guitar where do you go on a Saturday night?
I own this town I spilled my wine at the bottom of the statue of Colonel Light
And the streets are so wide everybody's inside
Sitting in the same chairs they were sitting in last year
(This is my town!)
All the king's horses all the king's men
Wouldn't drag me back again
to Adelaide, Adelaide, Adelaide, Adelaide...

Smile

from the change of topic here, it seems like Adelaide is the place to be...far away from. Poor, poor Adelaidians getting paid out all the time...why don't you leave that hole in the ground you call home and join Australia again in Melbourne?

i'm just messing around with you, Adelaide is cool simply because it belongs to Australia and, of course, their footy teams are great training for the premiership Twisted Evil

I note that Paul Kelly's passion for St. Kilda does not extend to it's football team and why would it after his beloved Crows did so humble it in 1997.

The great advantage of living in Adelaide is we are only an hour or so from the eastern fun parlours when we choose; and a comfortable lifestyle away when going about life's real business.

I gather from an earlier post that Melburnians are so busy bistroing and boozing in "bars with a view" that they are too pissed to notice the squalor of their surrounds and too brain damaged to notice how trivial is a life of "diversions"

These comments do not apply to personal friends and relatives .

Gosh, gozmo! Confused I can't recall saying anything derogatory about Adelaide. I kinda like the place. Very Happy Which post are you referring to?

And I'll try (very hard!) to stop living this trivial, diversionary Melbourne life. It'll be hard, though! Very Happy
